Hey, hey!!

So here I have another one. With this one here everything was strange.

I putted the seed to germinate at the same time and same method as my Hydroponic one, but this one took much longer to grow. Don't know why but is much smaller.

I decided to leave this one outside with the natural elements of the weather. Already done one topping. Didn't gave any nutrients yet. Because it was outside, one day I went to see it and my cats left a surprise for me and ate some lower leaves. I don't know if now it will affect the growth of the plant or not.

Medium:

Soil (inserted a layer of expanded clay pebbles on the bottom of the pot and the mixed some organic biologic soil ( https://portal.siro.pt/pt/Store/Product?ref=SR1513000111&codeCat=port_substratos_hobby_especificos ) with some expanded clay pebbles to aerate the soil. I don't know if it's ok to do it but because I didn't had perlite I thought that expanded clay pebbles might do more less the same job)

Size of Grow Area and number of plants:

Outside

Lighting:

Sun

Extraction:

Wind

Pot Sizes:

5,5L pot.

Do you think it's enough for the whole process?

Nutrients:

Try-pack Indoor by BioBizz

Mills CalMag

Vitalink pH Up/Down Easy 25% Essentials

Other Equipment:

PH meter - Milwaukee PH600AQ Digital pH Pen

EC meter - Milwaukee CD611 Digital Conductivity Pen

Plan for the grow:

I'm planning to do some more topping and LST. This one cause will be outside I think that I will not do SCROG.

These photos I took today when I moved the plant next to the others, inside the tent.

Lol, cats apparently love weed too, I dont have any so never had the problem. But it is best to keep pets away from the grow room, as they will carry bugs and things on them that might get onto your plants and cause problems.

These girls look a little yellow too, maybe they're hungry and need a bit more nitrogen?

@macky Now that I put them all together I realize that. Probably because they were outside had less nitrogen. How is the best way to feed plant on soil?

@bs_monteiro I use organic fertilizer from general hydroponics. Floranova grow. There are many ways to grow with soil....maybe @templegrower could shed some light on this....vast amount of information he has lol he is also a soil grower

Today, day 44, I decided to give some nuts to the babies and this one was no exception.

In 1L of water I used 1ml of CalMag and 2ml of BioGrow. I noticed that after inserting the nuts the EC of the feeding water raised to 2mS/cm2. Is that normal or is it too much?. Left the pH on 6,2.

I don’t grow Cannabis in soil, I’m a coco grower, but that EC of 2.0 sounds very high to me. My basic rule is to use a starting dose at only 1/2 the manufacturers recommended amount and sometimes that can be a bit too much as well. If the plants need more feed I’m more inclined to give half the feed twice as often to make it easier on the roots.  I’d be curious to know what your starting background EC is and what the actual nute load is.

@monkeydo I made a new post about this and basically the EC of the runoff was 3,8 so I flushed till reach 1,2. Cause I'm using bottled water, it's very low on minerals, the background EC is 0,1, that's why I added the CalMag. I didn't knew that CalMag raises so much the EC of the water. Basically raised the EC from 0,1 to 1 with just 1ml per L.

And I made another error that I just figured it out a little bit later, that was I added 2ml of Biogrow p/L and was just supposed to add 1ml. Hope not to be very shocking for the plant.

@bs_monteiro all that explains the high EC. Drop your levels to half what the bottle says. Manufacturers want you to use more so they sell more but full strength isn’t needed for growing cannabis. If the plants need more it’s easier to add than to flush.

@monkeydo Thank you man. Next time I will be more aware. And how often should I feed the plants? Once per week?

@bs_monteiro I usually feed my plants once a week. Usually water every 2 to 3 days and I feed every weekend so I know during the week it's just water. My schedule is 2 waters 1 feed and adjust as the plants show signs usually. I'm sure there is a better way some more experienced soil guys will know but that's been working for me. Also depends on the nutrients too....organic are usually more forgiving than salts

@colacody Thank you mate. And normally how much water do you give? Double the pot size(10L pot = 20L water)?

@bs_monteiro I usually wet the soil completely where I believe the roots are....again I'm an outdoor grower mainly but 20L of water is more for a flush. I usually start at a gallon at a time and go from there. Outdoor is very different from indoor...lots of variables. Weather and all that changes every minute especially in Canada. I have a 35 gallon pot and usually 2 gallons would water enough of the soil.....but indoor you water to have some run off and then make sure to clean up the excess carefully...is what I've been told so far

@bs_monteiro I always start feeding then at 1/4 strength nutes and slowly work towards 1/2 strength. my feed schedule is ph water then feed every other time. If I make a mistake and over feed I usually just flush it out and when it's dry enough start feed again  a under fed plant won't die. But over feeding one can

Day 45

Today I didn't touched them. Just decided to take some pics to share with you.

They seem to be reacting well to the nuts.

In the beginning of this diary I said that I've done topping but I was wrong. In this one I done Fimming.

During the introduction of the diary I mentioned that I mixed some expanded clay pebbles on the soil to aerate and a layer of them on the bottom to improve irrigation and aeration. Now that I will transplant to a bigger pot do you think that I should leave the expanded clay pebbles like that or should I take them out and buy some perlite to mix with the soil?

My concern is that it may take some space for the roots to grow or something like that.

@bs_monteiro It’s just a personal preference. The roots will still wrap around the clay balls and use that space as best as it can but the balls aren’t necessary. I sometimes put some lump charcoal in the pot bottoms. It helps me prevent some of the coco from spilling out of the pot early on in the grow. I know you are in soil but same principle. I’ve eliminated the charcoal lumps some runs and there was not any difference in the plant growth for me, just more loose debris in the runoff. Whatever way you decide to go on the clay balls, the plant will adjust accordingly.

Another question that may sound stupid. Can I change the medium during the grow process or should I stick to the same medium till the end of the grow and just choose in the beginning?

@bs_monteiro I would stick to the same medium to avoid any additional problems that can be avoided. Soil is a great medium IMO. But I would stick to what she has grown in so far. Good job on the fimming btw man

Day 48

Transplanted as well this one. I think this one is looking good.

Do you think that the two plants outside the tent will have enough light?

I turned a little bit the reflector towards them so they receive a little more direct light.

I wanted them to grow till time to change to flowering so i can move them outside.

Your plants are going to bend towards the light so you should turn them often. You will probably be OK for a short while but I’d avoid this long term. It’s enough light to keep them alive till you can plant them outside but they will stretch and reach for the light. If they are going to flower outdoors I’d get them out a little early to let them acclimate to the climate and light first if you can, but I don’t know your climate. It would be less stressful to the plants and should keep them happier during bloom. Happy plants make nice dank bud.

@basssman7 maybe I’m stoned too lol. I didn’t fully understand your question. If you’re asking about the difference in sunlight and tent light there’s a big difference in both spectrum and intensity. Just grabbing a plant out of your tent and immediately putting it in direct full sunlight can really harm some plants that are not used to that extreme intensity. Other than that maybe I didn’t get the question.

LOL.  My understanding is that the plant completely inside the tent is your indoor-only plant? And the two outside of the tent but still hopefully getting some of the light from the tent will be going outside when the weather allows? what is your lighting in the tent and is that indoor plant also in soil?

The plant inside the tent is growing hydroponically. The light is 150W HPS. I don’t put them now outside just because of the light cycles. Now they are under a 18/6 cycle and normally sunlight is just during 12h.

Day 55

The same issue as the my other plant in soil. The soil is still humid after one week of watering and look as well too much stretched and I think it's all because of the lack of light. What do you think? The nodes are not growing symmetrically. Is it sign of maturity, so is it ready to change to the flowering stage?

Day 57

Today I decided to do some Super Cropping to control the stretchiness of the plant. I've done in 4 branches and in one of them went too far and opened a wound, wrapped with tape and hope to heal.

Yesterday I watered them just with pHed water.

I'm very concerned now about moving them outside. I'm afraid that someone might see them and call the cops. I think they are already ready to enter in flowering phase but don't know what to do.

@twisted1 But the problem is that I just have one 0.6x0.6x1.6 tent full with the hydro SCRoGged. And the light now is slight turned to reach all plants but I think don't have enough power. It's a 150W HPS. And now I don't have money to buy another tent and light. 🙁
