Other Equipment:

PH / EC : Hanna instruments combo meter

Pawfly 7w air pump with 5 airstones

two simple non oscillating clip fans

cheapo Vivosun dehumidifier

Levoit Humidifier

Plan for the grow:

The plan was initially to see how well germinated seeds can do with just a neoprene collar in DWC without any growing medium. Essentially in my cloner.

also i wanted to delay transplanting to the veg room for two of the six started in order to see how well they catch up with the four that were transplanted weeks earlier. oh and one extra to put into soil for my mommy dearest 😛 other than that, no real plan for this one.

here is the cloner where i started all 6 seeds after germination. this was taken a week after i transplanted 4 into my veg tent. 2 are still there. one for a planned delayed transplant and the weaker for my mom to grow for fun.

i was curious as to how a more developed "root ball" handles being transplanted into a netpot that is shallower than its length. i figured since it would have to then develop a new ball past the netpot it might take some time to recover. its definatly not as hearty as the others, but its seemed to recover very well.

it did have an effect on its body shape tho. its thinner but ever so slightly taller. the first four transplanted are thiiiiiiiicccccccc AF

here we have the two that were more vigorous in one. less vigorous in the other. there were taken the same day as the cloner pic in the last post. about 15 days i think, after transplant. you can see the difference in the plants are pretty staggering. the other just couldnt develop as big a root ball in the cloner i guess. the heat may have stunted the cloner ones a little as its more hot and humid in there.

this is just a small over view of the setup. the poor little plant in the center is a clone ive been abusing in soil... just for fun? 😛

@twisted1 thanks. the two on the left got crazy indica on me. they had fan leaves as big as itself. fucking crazy thick stems on them too, guessing its genetic with the help of the light.

they ended up getting crazy big leaves. was a shame to have to cut em off but they were rediculous. choking out the whole plant with just two leaves lol.

IMG 20200125 0928457

decided to test a quick manifold on one. never tried it before.also just curious to see how its recovery was.

here we have the original 4 with the delayed transplant from the cloner in the back center. picture was taken just short of two weeks from the last shots.

theyre basically all done vegging for my taste (6-7 week from seed). you can see my mothers delayed transplant (like 5 weeks) is in the middle center getting some strengthening light before i switch the other five to flower. this is also just before i lollipop them to prepare for the flip. i usualy defoliate in two or three stages as too now super stress them out

gently cleaned up their lower end while trying to not damage pre-flowers and got the scrog set up for them to stretch into. showtime!

heres a shot one week into flip. pistils already showing on 4 of the 5. one i still cant tell yet but im only squinting and its the one in the hardest to reach corner (figures itll be the hardest to cull lol)

IMG 20200218 1034582

last week i defoliated the three heavily and moved them around the scrog. from left to back and right, 1 2 and 3 were cleaned up and the 4 and 5 were not. got a little delay on the other two and decided it would be a good shot for the newbies out there who are hesitant to defoliate indoors. if its your first time it can be intimidating cutting off all those fan leaves. many people online will say leave all of them but i would argue thats for outdoor plants (they need all the backup they can get, and the sun can penetrate better than any light man can make)

now i cant attest for soil... if youre doing hydroponic, and you have a solid root mass downstairs, they tend to recover without any stunting. i clean off mostly all the big fan leaves as you can see they look quite sad.... and im sure they are, being man handled and bent around like that lol 😛

IMG 20200218 1035068

but you can also see that in just a few days, they can fully recover and keep that train a-rollin!

keep in mind this is basicaly at the start of the stretch so theyll have plenty of time still to grow out. (when i do it again at like the 3 or 4 week mark)

that moment when you realize you forgot you're growing from bag seed and its likely, though not always, not feminized seed.

RIP. you were doing so well...

also it was sharing a tub with another, which isnt a problem when female because you wouldn't have to cull. the roots are so intertwined i couldn't ever get them apart without cutting.

just hoping it doesn't rot and die 😛 probably should have considered that before the chop

IMG 20200221 0940057

now they've been rearranged for good light coverage.

sad day that day

@dok-gonzo

Everything will be alright mate, them plants will fill that space.

For the roots, add some Rhizotonic to the rez, that'll help break down the roots and re feed it back to the plants.

Keep the air stone going strong!!! As long as air keeps getting to the roots, good bacteria will grow. If the air stop, bad bacteria will grow. Time like these your airstone is important
