Why are our technologically advanced gizmo dilly bop's such a pain in the ass. I have a Bluelab PH controller and monitor and I also have a Hanna Gro line PH EC TDS, CB radio and PMS meter, that not important what is, is the fact that I can not get these two to read the same. Had them over a year, the Bluelab is continuous use as a monitor and the gro line is hand held and used a lot. I do two point cal for both, I can also do quick cal for the gro line. I'm off by 1.5+ on PH. Bluelab read out only goes to 10th, where the gro line goes to hundreds, so that's part of it. But no matter if it's fresh buffer, (biopharm) It might come close but then they separates. Blu go low and Hanna goes high. Don't know which is right. Brought NEW %#@$&^(* Probes for both. Fresh storage sol, new Hanna buffer sol, same fucking thing. They get cal about once a week to 10 days max if not sooner. Reads are taken 2-3-4 times a day. The reads for each are always consist with their previous reads but not with each other. Even when tested against buffer, they both will go to 4.0 or 3.99. I'm searching for my liquid tester. I don't get it and I'm not quitting till I do get it, so somebody hurry up and help I'm tired. Thanks man I just had to vent.
Do you have a swimming pool or hot-tub place near you? Take a few small sample bottles of distilled water. Put a few drops of lemon juice in one and a pinch of baking soda in another and keep one with pure distilled water. Use your testers on the samples and record the results, and then send them to the pool place and ask them to test them for you. compare results. The distilled water should be 7 I think.
That is how I would handle it. Let the pool place be the deciding factor. Hopefully one of the two methods you own will match up on all three.
Also, do both of your testers automatically account for temperature?
Not sure about what I’d do here.. I’d be inclined to just use one and stick with it! I use blue lab myself
Time to pop some more beans 😗
I have 3 Hanna Ph/EC testers and a Milwaukee Ph/EC along with a china special that actually works. I have found that when they start reading different that it is time to clean them (due to hard water deposits) and re calibrate
look at the manufacturers website to see if they have directions for cleaning if not there is a lot of info on the web. I like to calibrate only at 6.89 Ph since that is the range im testing for and i keep my probes stored in storage solution.
Sativa to change the things I can, Indica to accept the things I can’t.
I hear ya @woodi2, hygrometers have been driving me crazy for years, sent a few back because of inconsistencies some were off by 10% and that's bullshite. I still have my cheapo ph meter which is my own fault but by the sound of it the expensive ones are no better?
I ended up buying these old school mechanical hygrometers, cheap $2.99 and accurate although I had to calibrate some by prying them open and adjusting.
We just smiled n waved sittn there on that sack o seeds
Thanks for the feed back. Yes they are cleaned with cleaning solution and allowed to sit in it. Rinsed and two point cal. Placed in storage sol for one hour, rinsed and used. This is how I've always done it. They do compensate for temp. I had a 2 pack of Bluelab 4.0 and 7.0 buffer that came with the probe, that worked great as far as bring them the closest together but after a short time they spilt up, so sad. I try and do my research before I start asking for help but I'm getting stumped. I buy good tools and equipment so I don't have to buy them twice. Just looking for that silver bullet.
Man my meters are screwed! Plants got root rot! I'm going back to bed this days too hard! LOL I never give up, I'll let you know my outcome. Cheers, Choosy. See Ya, Ahoy
@hart I hear ya don't get me started on hydrometers. Luckily their cheap, I have a gaggle of those and just average out. I don't want to be the proud owner of a gaggle of PH meters thou. 😬
The bluelab guardian continuous i have , started reading out to lunch. I changed the probe and now it reads within 0.1 between calibrations/cleanings every two weeks
Ph meters are a pain in the arse, until u get one that works and then it’s the best tool ever. I tried a few and eventually stayed with the Essentials ph meter as it’s basic but with a clean and some storage solution every other time it hasn’t let me down. The best thing about them is that they are only about 50 euro.
