Hey hey I’m about 2 weeks from harvest I have like 5/6% amber, I’ve been finding caterpillars, even worst I found a little bit of bud rot, sniped those nugs off. I havint found any worms on my other plants yet. Will they spread? Should I chop early? How much would I be hurting my yield?

Ok looking again probably only 3% amber because only the heads of the trichomes are starting to turn, and I found more caterpillars on the other girls

Im not sure but I think all you can really do with caterpillars is pick them off when you see them.

Iv never had anything like that happen yet but I would probably just keep going untill the plants are ready and remove any caterpillars as you see them. Some of the other lads will probably be able tell you what to do tho 🙂

According to Steve Risner from Potent Ponics, you can apply BT to the plant up to a week before the harvest. You would need to be sure it’s pure BT and has no additives. He recommended the powdered product.

All this being said I’d only consider using this if there was no other way out. Like most others here, I don’t like the thought of spraying my buds. I’d hand pick the caterpillars and the eggs to try to avoid the spray.

  1. Cool thanks guys I’ve been picking them off atleast there isint too many I’ll go back in everyday and do some inspections. I had to harvest some of the branches because of bud rot. Alas I shall persevere! Not loosing to a confusing hookah smoking bombaclat

@frosty-fire-ant Sorry to hear about this, mate.  Sucks that it happens so close to the end.  Be aware that some people say the catepillar waste in/on the buds contributes to botrytis.  Personally, I would never apply a chemical to any bud i was going to consume. Have you tried using a black tea?  The caffeine in tea is a insecticide that is not toxic to people in low doses. Here's a link:

@im_sparky thank you no I would never use Chems either.BT is a natural derived bacteria as far as I know. I will give the caffeine a try but I’m concerned with spraying anything on them, there’s already so much dew in the mornings I may as well. But I found an assassin bug slurping up the carcass of one of them, so I don’t want to hurt the assassins, maybe they end up controlling the situation for me as the presence of caterpillars seem scarce, and maybe the assassin lurking around is the reason.
