So I finally just listened to this weeks podcast and the timing was right with these damn fungus knats. These m’fers won’t stop. My problem is that I’m in week 6 on flower on one end and my veg closet is only at seedling stage at the moment I was spraying a been/soap mixture diligently but stopped that as of now. WTD? I’m going to ride is out on the flower tent I’ve got another 2-3 weeks left
@templegrower I feel your pain. These things are everywhere.
@monkeydo You had mentioned BTI/ mosquito dunks? Is that something I can find at HD or Loews here in the States? Is there a specific brand
@Zombienation you mentioned sharp sand? Can that be found at a box store here in the states? Will it mess with the soil at all.
@growdad Monkey told me about the dunks when I had gnats, I bought a couple off amazon and iv never seen a gnat since, but iv never had a massive swarm of them like some of the other guys have, it was always just a few but they were still fuckin annoying. I mix half and half tap/rain water in a jug and leave a dunk in the jug the whole time now, I let it stand for about 24 hours then pour the water into a plastic bottle then add my plant food, then fill the jug up again and repeat. It fixed my problem. Good luck mate.
In the corridors of power where the talks are in full swing If you can't say it with flowers Then don't say anything
@stootie thanks. I’m going to do this with my girls still vegging. I don’t want to touch the flowering girls as they are almost done. Plants look healthy for the most part, these things are just flying everywhere and are so annoying
I often get gnats in flower and this should help you to get rid of them ( without affecting the plants)
You need to cover up all drainage holes
Could even double your pot up with 3" of sand between the two pots as gnats hate sharp sand, lift the pot out and water from the bottom of the pots, drop then in a bucket for 5 minutes and stand for 5 minutes to remove any excess water and drop back in the pots of sand.
This will kill the larvey as the fly's will only see dry sand.
I used the dunks and nematodes this grow, finally worked. Yesday I picked up some Wollastonite for next grow and found some interesting info as I didn't buy it for gnats but apparently it has sharp edges which cuts them little bastages. Then I came across malt barley, easily accessible and cheap at brew shops for beer making. It has bug fighting capabilities also, score!
Interesting video... or not, lol
We just smiled n waved sittn there on that sack o seeds
@hart thank you. The situation has gotten better over the last few days. I’ve been keeping fans blowing on the soil and constantly mixing the top layer of soil around and I’m seeing less and less knats. They’re just about gone in my veg closet. I’m also going an extra day without watering which is helping dry it out.
