North Carolina university has developed a fabric called Plant Armor that can block even tobacco thrips the size of a pencil point but still lets in sun and water. It's three layers. The middle one is a maze that takes hours to navigate. The two outside layers are transparent yarn made of recycled plastic, which can be recycled again.
The cabbages in the last test where the fabric was tented like a greenhouse were 3x as large as the ones without protection. That doesn't surprise me. It stopped 90% of baby caterpillars. No pesticides, no contaminates. I can see this working with cannabis. One of my main fears about outdoors is insects and the products used to kill them.
New mesh for crops keeps out insects. Good news network. Interesting site.
