Co2 question

It’s been a cold “summer” in my basement garden.  Currently I’m in week2 of flower. I’m using co2 at about 600-700ppm. I’m having problems getting my grow room temperature over 75. My question is whether I’m wasting my time and money on the  co2. I seem to remember hearing that co2 isn’t that effective with temps under 80. Is that true?

Unless you are running a close system CO2 isnt worth much TBH mate.

The air in the grow room should be exchanged at least one every 3 mins ( 20 times and hour). This pulls all the CO² out of the grow room, before it is really used by the plants.

Are you slowing down extraction to try and keep the air and CO² in for longer? That'll keep the heat in too?

It isn’t a completely sealed system but I have a co2 monitor and the level rarely drops below 580ppm unless I turn it off and open up the room. Ambient co2 in the house with 2 people and 2 animals is around475-500. Thanks for your reply Mackey. With all the commercial grows, I a little surprised at the lack of academic articles on best grow practices.

it's been in the shadows for so long mate, only now  is real research being done on growing cannabis. Things will change, but for now, its more of an artform lol. Everyone has their own way of doing things, but no real peer review blind studies done to really know what works best.

@jammie

This is what Jorge Cervantes' Cannabis Encyclopedia says about CO2... I've never used it myself so I can't say either way but, seems like you're on the low end of the effective temp spectrum. You probably are getting some benefit, but maybe not the maximum.  But again, I've never used it so, grain of salt and all that.

Thanks temple, I’d remembered 80 degrees from somewhere. At 75 degrees I’m close.  As the girls are bushing in early flowering I may add another 1k. That will increase temp

The only additives that I use are General hydro’s bioweed to feed the beneficial bacteria and protekt’ s silica as a ph up. I would advise everyone no never waste money on aptus’ s silica. I did a 50/50 grow off and the only difference was that protekt seemed to be a more stable ph up. My base nutes for the last couple years have been advanced nutrient’s connoisseur. I’m not impressed with their ph perfect tech. I’ll probably go back to ionic next year
