Hey there, quick ?. I got some really nice bagseed phenotypes that grow well in my environment. Produces nice thick hard colas but not a very high thc content, defo has purple somewhere and skunk cuz of the smell. Last two grows I did only found one male banana on lower bud, removed and got no seeds at all from grows. I've done 4 grows total of this strain, first two had seed second two had none. Sorry... here's my ?. Will spraying silver on this phenotype help remove the hermit gene so I can then criss with a stronger thc strain? Sorry for the long ? But thought it would help if you knew Info. Many thanks, cheers Mcgrower

Spraying your plant with a silver compound won’t change it’s genetics so if the hermie genes are there then they will be passed to the offspring. The silver prevents the female plants from reacting to ethylene gas that triggers the formation of female flowers. When restricted the plant make male flowers but their genes aren’t changed.

@monkeydo thank you for the info. I like the strain and the way it grows, just want a stronger thc output. Willing to risk hermie trait for own research, now research for appropriate high thc regular seeds and get a male to cross. Cheers for the answer dude.

@Monkeydo is correct about the genotype issue with regard to silver not changing the plant's genotype. However, I respectfully differ in what this means for your question. Every individual is a product of their genes plus their environment, resulting in a phenotype. By altering the environment, you can influence the phenotype -- often in a very big way. Exposure to silver is a significant environmental pressure and it can cause huge differences in the phenotype. I am not a cannabis breeder, so there's that, but I have bred several different species over the years. However, I know very experienced cannabis breeders who have told me that if you spray silver on plant that has genotype for hermaphrodism, then that will very likely cause a hermie phenotype. Again, I do not know this from first-hand experience, but have been told this.
Related to your question is also the idea of breeding hermies. Robert Clarke states that "the offspring of hermaphrodite parents tend toward hermaphrodism, which is largely unfavorable for the production of Cannabis, other than hemp."
Now, with that said, if you like the bud, grow and breed it, smoke it. However, be aware that you are very likely going to be dealing with the problems of hermies and furthering that problem. Most breeders would cull them, but it is your grow. Have fun with it, but let me suggest you should not be spreading those seeds around.
Hope that helps.

@im_sparky cheers dude. Most helpful. Yeah I'm leaning more towards leaving that area alone, nice strain but not worth the hermie trait, cheers mate.
