Not being an expert (well, being a noob), I would like to know what I should call the result to taking two F3 females of the same strain, coercing one to grow male parts, and breeding them.

Secondly, is there any reason or advantage of breeding an F3 to itself (same plant)? If so, I asked a question in this topic a few minutes ago about timing.

Thank you, experts!

@matommy if they are the same strain and same generation then you would be creating an f4 taking away the larger swings in pheno expressions, so for instance the f4 offspring would be almost identical plants yet still show differences in say smell or yield. But that's generational, so you would have bred down the line pheno hunting till you hit f3 then then hunted the f3 offspring down till you found the 2 most desirable and bred them together creating the f4 if that makes sense. From what i gather your not talking the same generational parents just the same strain? if thats the case by my understanding you would be creating a cross between the two and will deepen the genetic pool, that's assuming each individual plant you crossed with were from completely separate lines by different breeders to get to the same "strain", i would then assume it would be stable but not technically an f4, but not quite a bare bones f1 either. I hope that makes sense, and this is just my understanding of how it all works, I am by no means a biologist lol

@bubblehok I might get it. I got a batch of regular seeds, all the same strain and same breeder. I plan to breed two females of that same batch together, OR breed one of the plants with a clone of one of the others in the same batch, if that's what I have to do to time it right.

If that's what I am doing and I understand you right, I will be making an F4?
