So don’t really know what I’m talking about here as I’m not that savvy with this stuff and have always just used online services blind without thinking like most.
But I was thinking about ways I can limit and delete my online footprint and start using services again, social media, forums etc… in a much more private way where my activities aren’t tracked stored and tied to me as person.
Does that make sense and what are the steps to doing it when you’ve been leaving a digital footprint for 16yrs?

@greentomato I dont even think something like that is possible im afraid mate, that info is all sold on to advertisers so its all on some kind of database some where. Google may have better answers for you on this, but even that will be stored lol.

@greentomato I’m not a computer guy myself but my brother is a computer engineer. He uses and suggested that I use a VPN service like express VPN, there’s a bunch out there so ya have to find one that works for you.

I’m with Gelert, I switched to Duck Duck Go before I started at Percy’s. I very, and I can’t stress this enough, very rarely if ever use anything but duck duck anymore and I no longer get emails and ads for things I might have been researching. This tells me my online footprint isn’t growing and is probably shrinking. There’s tons of other exposure out there with social media and everything so I only do social media under handles, never my actual identity. Best thing to do is to start limiting your exposure to avoid future issues. It’s difficult to erase the past completely in this digital universe.

So use vpns, set up a new email that’s not linked to my ip and or person. Use that email for apps such as Instagram, YouTube and forums.
