Yes, a potentiometer like regular incandescent dimmer switch would do to control the temperature. I’ve not done any resin pressing but @Chillbert does it frequently. Maybe he would have a starting suggestion.

hi mate, for pressing flower i find 180-200f a good temp, it maintains good quality in terms of terps and colour and yield

for pressing hash i use less heat, depends on what im pressing.. kief to make traditional hash only needs pressure and time with a little heat... pressing water hash (bubble) into hash rosin id start around 160f and go up to around 180f

nice job building your own press .. they are over-priced generally as they are part of the cannabis commercialisation hype world... i bought a cheapish shitty one to learn with basically.. it does that job but would like something more high end build quality with better control of pressure and heat.. making some rosin is easy but maintaining highest possible quality is a bit harder without good equipment

I did some reading and watched some videos and saw people were using molds to press the herb before putting in rosin press so I made me some molds. I also wanted to start keeping some clones of some photos I grow so I rigged myself up a cloner bucket

@pollinatedhi those molds look mighty nice there bro, I don't normally go to the trouble of pressing into molds but last time I looked they were asking stupid money for a mold so I just never bothered. That being said I have a mate that has a few workshop machines and I'm sure I can swindle some machine time and a hunk of aluminium off him hahaha 

@pollinatedhi nice work mang. I haven’t gotten into pressing rosin yet but as most things cannabis, I’ll probably venture into that at some point. Cool idea and something I can knock out with my smaller machine tools too. Ima keep this idea around but was thinking round molds might be easier to fabricate and would be stronger too. A bit of 6060 and a rotary table on a vertical mill should knock it out pretty fast. Alternative to the mill could be to turn the round ones on a lathe. Either way .. great idea.

@monkeydo Just get an old engine block fitted on a stand with a handle fitted to the flywheel, crank it round and squash weed in the cylinders.lol

@bubblehok thanks man. I wish I could run a machine but all I did was cut a piece of rectangular tube and used 1/2” aluminum plate and cut pieces to fit inside. Then cut pieces for the top/bottoms and then I glued them together
