So I’ve had to change my soil and brought some that I didn’t know had a wetting agent in it & it’s not really much good.

my other choices would be bio bizz light mix or all mix  know these don’t contain wetting agents but there more peat based than what I used to get.

what do others think about bio bizz’s light & all mix good or could do better

Im not sure mate... but this is about soil, not compost right? Compost you make at home, not buy in a bag 😉

Lol buddy that’s hairs like on the bag of soil you buy from a shop says very often “ our compost is made of xyz “  it kinda like saying one’s not organic coz they use bottle nutes.  One is made by a company the other made at home. 🙂

No mate, soil and compost are 2 different things.... similar but they are used for different purposes....

"Although some people use the terms soil and compost interchangeably, there is actually a big difference between them. They each have important functions in gardening, but soil is a natural product that is formed in the environment, and compost is recycled plant and kitchen waste!"

Plant a cannabis seed in soil for example, and you shouldn't see many issues, plant a cannabis seed in compost, and it mostly likely won't shoot because the compost is too strong. Compost is added to soil to give extra nutrients and microbes. They are not the same thing Smile

I know it seems as if its picking at straws but it is an important difference that is often mixed up for new growers Smile

Yessir -- good soil is made up of mineral content plus generous amounts of decomposing organics that retain water and feed plants needed nutrients.  Dirt is soil minus most organics.  Quality soil should have compost amended into it, but when one speaks of compost, it refers to only the decomposing vegetative materials, such as grass, leaves, and kitchen waste being eaten by bacteria and fungi.

Yeah I know compost is added to soil it’s adds nutes to the soil & know the differences between them & they are two different things but what I meant was it makes no difference to my question

The wetting agent works fantastic outdoors. Not usually needed indoors as will promote fungus gnats awful things

I use an organic wetting agent from the yucca plant. It's purpose is to help your soil not to be afraid of water lol. Peat moss for instance is hydrophobic, if you pour water on dry peat moss it beads and rolls off and difficult to wet. A lot of soils contain peat moss so most will contain a wetting agent of some sort. There's good (organic) and bad wetting agents, some made with petroleum, alcohol are bad to the bone and will annihilate your microbes. Usually a short term solution though, like with newly built soils or soil that was left dry too long, the real cure is more organic matter breaking down creating humus, soils own home grown wetting agent. Kool EH!

We just smiled n waved sittn there on that sack o seeds
