When going from 18/6 light cycle to 12/12, do I need to gradually change the cycle? For instance 18/6 to 17/7, 16/8 and so on. Or can I just change immediately to 12/12?

You can just flip to 12 and 12 but I like to go in 2 hour intervals from 18/6 to 16/8 to 14/10 and finally 12/12. Try it one way this time and take notes then do it the other way next time see which you prefer. Good luck Thumbs Up

@mrgrowsalot I agree, it is all up to the style of growing you want to do. It really doesn’t make a huge difference I imagine.

Both is ok. Plants take few days to note the changes in light length. Light dosent matter so much, its the darkness that matters. U cant ruin ur day time with switching off lights for few seconds. Plants dont notice that. But if u switch lights on during night then its immediately day time for plant and night is over. Also with green light.

If ur in hurry, put 12/12 immediately. If not in hurry then gradual is more natural.

@juglans I agree thank you for not just telling him to just switch, it’s more of a choice. I feel like it doesn’t add any time to the grow to slowly transition, but I guess I don’t have enough experience under my belt in growing to be sure yet.

I tried that this time and it seemed to help the plants through any stress, but people do it all kinds of ways. Last time I flipped to flower I just flipped and it was fine too. I don’t see a huge difference and the slow transition seemed to start to flower still in 2 weeks. I did hour by hour for this current grow I’m running though and I like the idea of it personally, stress does increase cannabis production so you can pick which route.

I would like to see what others do also so this is a good question for me to learn off.

You can just flip it to 12/12 no need to ramp the hours down.

Sativa to change the things I can, Indica to accept the things I can’t.

You can just flip them

@juglans what do you mean by "also with green light"?

@bangswitch2a i mean, even green light is considered as light. Its urban legend that plants dont see green light. They absorb green 0,6x as much as red light.

It takes like second for plant to react to light. But i takes and hour to react to darkness.

I see what you mean. Is there any type of light that won't affect the plant when it's dark? I've wanted to check on my plants during the dark period, but haven't due to not wanting to fuck it up somehow.

@bangswitch2a moonlight -> Lux limit.  Plants use/react also ir and uv out of human visible light. So no. Working needs to be done lights on (and shades on with leds). Harvesting can be possible from dark room to maximize tender terps.
