Hey guys

I'm seeing these little rusty spots forming on some leaves. I read an article here about calcium deficiency symptoms and wonder if that's what I'm seeing:

I do water most days. I may skip a day, at most a day

So I’m going to start off by saying that for cannabis I’m a coco grower and it once again that we are dealing with mixed medias. From your description you mix coco with living soil and perlite. While coco is watered every day soil usually ends up being watered less frequently. Is your soil cycling from wet to mostly dry before you are watering again? I this wet to dry cycle is what cannabis likes.

About 5 days ago I top dressed with worm castings and malted barley grains, and soft rock phosphate

When did your problems begin? Phosphorus will act to lock out calcium and magnesium if the phosphorus level is too high. It can also cause leaf curl and thinning of the fan leaf fingers. Your problem is in the early stages but here’s a guide on phosphorus:

One other thing I noticed is your ph level. Soil usually likes ph between 6.5 and 7.0. I’d start putting the ph at 6.5 for feeding

Some soil growers might want to jump in and share some insight as well

So greatful for the feedback cheers heaps for your time. The spots arrived as I hit flower and as she started stretching. Not many popped up, and they don't appear to be getting any worse at the moment, possibly actually getting better but I'm keeping my eye on her and getting educated incase this gets any bigger 👍 I think that likely its an over do of something! Probably like you suggested because that soil is loaded with super foods for microbes! And the top dress I use is aswell. I think I suffer from new grower over watering syndrome slightly 😅 I try to let the pots dry out, the tip layer does but I can tell she's wet at the bottom, she probably could handle some drying time. I did notice my water retention with this super soil mix was intense as, in comparison to a gelato I put into just coco. The water just goes straight through coco, Well for me anyways!

I will try PH at 6.5 for sure, see how it goes. Does it matter if your a point or 2 out or should we just always keep it consistent?

Wow! Just read the article about phosphorus excess. I believe you nailed it. It's exactly what I seen! I thought the tip yellowing was my light as it was effecting the top leaves, and top leaves were also slightly less green 🙏☺

It looks like something is up but it is in the early stages and  can be caused by many factors. To properly diagnose this we need to know a few things:

What strain is this

how old is it

Is this in soil or coco

are you feeding it and if so how much

what is the input ph

what is the input EC

what are your current temps and humidity

And any other things you might think important……..

Too much or too little of one thing can throw the grow out of balance and that looks like what you’ve got.

Hey thanks for your reply

It's a zkittles autoflower.

Planted on 16th August so it's 57 days old now.

Medium is a mix of living super soil, coco, perlite and worm castings.

Just been watering mostly with PH rain water ranging between 6.2 to 6.8, not too fussy as long as I'm in that range I'm happy. I heat and aerate my water with aquarium heater and air stone. Water temp always 20 to 22 celcius. EC and PPMs I wish I could tell you I forget I don't regularly check still wrapping my brain around all that.. But did buy a blue lab PH pen and PPM EC stick to start tracking this.. I keep being told how it's imperative I'm slack.. for the purpose of this reply though just checked res and EC was 0.1 in my res and ppm 500 = 10

I do water most days. I may skip a day, at most a day, I start with a litre and if there's no run off I go again. In veg I would just give 1L a day, early flower hit and we went with 2L a day still no run off.. The amount she is drinking is starting to increase fast right now I think as she took 3 litres yesterday without run off. Pot size 10gal, fabric.

My soil is meant to be no till water only so I decided for food just compost tea for her soil, using kelp neem and fish meal with insect frass, worm castings and raw sugar.

Temp during day time will be between 20 and upto 27 some days. At night we drop to 18, but that's about to change installing a heater today lol. Humidity is between 45 and 55, but mostly at about 50.

Got 2 small fans for airflow. Using LED 200W dimmable Spider Farmer for lighting

About 5 days ago I top dressed with worm castings and malted barley grains, and soft rock phosphate, and that's it, I was planning to just water now unless she needs something

My first compost tea was measured using 500ppm and = 550ppm, the 2nd tea was 890ppm I think, and I didn't even look at the EC 😅🤦‍♀️

I will start monitoring and checking I promise lol 😅

Hey yo!

24 Hours ish later:

UPDATE - Plant Observations today:

The problem did appear to have slightly worsened. Her newest fan leaves since I defolled have grown quite thin fingers on them you can see the difference on the healthy ones. A fair few of those yellow veins have started to show up around various different leaves, and there's a bit of downward tip curl on the ones most effected. The rust spots though don't look to be worsening or disappearing,  there's still plenty of healthy green leaves too so hopefully the flush will help.

THE FLUSH:

25l of PH water went through her today at 6.9 This was more effort than I thought it would be lol she's heavy as but I got it done pretty effectively in my lounge room using a few things I found laying around the house I came up with a pretty decent rig to flush and collect my run off with, and was pretty proud how well it worked out. I tested EC, PPMs and PH of my run off and it was pretty through the roof 😳

Using plastic 90L storage tub with an upside down Milk crate wedged into it 💯🤣 I felt super innovative lol

RUN OFF:

... 😵

PPM = 2330 (@500)

EC = 4.7

PH = 6.6

Are these measurements an uh-oh? Im unsure of what a healthy PPM reading should be or what  healthy EC reading should be.. A guide of sorts would be super 👍

You have been so helpful, everyone has, thanks a mil
