Will Oyster shell breakdown in soil & will the calcium become plant available?
I came across a bucket of it near a chicken coop In work & it got me thinking that I’ve heard it being used in soil for growing plants.Thanks

if you feed a chicken calcium the egg shells will get harder. Too much and you'll have trouble cracking the eggs. lol Chicken will eat egg shells for the calcium that they need. The shells may have been chicken feed.

Yes, I run mine through a coffee mill, the less surface area makes for faster breakdown. Add about 1 cup per cubic ft. of soil. 😎

They take time to break down and be bio-available, so I like @Hart's suggestion for increasing surface area. Since the material is basic, too much can increase your pH, so keep an eye on it. Bon chance!
