if my new clones don’t take, I’ll transfer 4 out of 6 rooted clones to netpots and into my RDWC System. I’ve never stuffed this many roots into a netpot before (I’ve always transplanted sooner).
I know nothing about root pruning, but have heard it can stimulate root growth.

Any opinions on whether I should trim the bottom 1/3 of the roots off before transplanting. ????

I dunno, I think of roots as the heart of the plant. Trimming them can only hurt IMHO. Is it bro science saying too trim?

@lousytourist IDK, as I research, pruning roots if done right has a similar effect as when we prune topside. I know root pruning is effective when transplanting root bound plants. I found this forum post I thought interesting.
since I have 6 rooted clones, and only need 4, I decided to do an informal side by side, if I don’t kill the clone, and if it looks to be successful I will include her in the hydro grow, then plan a more controlled test on a future grow.

About 12 hours later, the clone I snipped the bottom few inches off is not showing any signs of stress. The first two pics are the snipped clone, the last two is a clone that had very comparable looking roots before the snip.
I’ll do another side by side photo maybe Saturday.

roots one day after pruning.
TBC, when I trimmed the roots I made sure the cut site would still reach the nute solution so the cut was slightly submerged.
