Just had a really good look over my zkittles with the loupe as it's getting along now and wanted to see how many cloudys I had. Well now I'm really perplexed as I'm currently at approximately 45% clear, 40%cloudy and 15% amber. Was shocked to see amber there in such high numbers with still a high number of clears still present.
Would me brushing my hand over a bud while defoliating cause the trichomes to do this, or is it time.

Hey bro, sometimes brushing past them will cause the pistils to brown off prematurely and that can sometimes cause some trichomes to go a little amber sooner, I usually check my buds about halfway down the bud not the top itself and I will check at least 4 tops across the plant to see if it's maturing evenly. I have also had strains that just would not amber up no matter how long I left them.
Ideally you want to look for plant maturity as a whole, trichome development is a great indication as the amber turn usually coincides with the plant reaching its harvest window. I like to see pistil brown off of about 70% along with mainly cloudy trichomes with a smattering of amber, and I want to see those calyx swelling with resin before I pull it. The swell can happen real quick and usually in the last few weeks.
If you are only seeing it on one or two buds that you think you have brushed passed or potentially mushed up the trichomes on then I would put it down to damage related amber, especially if the rest of the plant isn't showing the same ratio of amber to cloudy.

That looks real close to being done man, I would consider that in the harvest window.

Day 42 so your sitting at 6 weeks flower, that is a little fast for a finish but not unheard of, give her another week and check to see how she has progressed, don't forget this is kind of the stage where it is up to your personal taste, so you are probably at the start of the harvest window and that can run 2- 3 weeks.
Seemed very fast indeed and the amber has taken me by surprise for sure. I think I might be making a trip to the coast soon ☺️ Think I'll let it go the week out to the start of week 7 and if she's sluggish on the amber transition I could be tempted to go another week.
