Sick Plant When is heat stress too much

Here in the Midwestern US we have been under high heat and zero rain for many weeks.   I've been diligent about watering regularly but already lost one huge plant to heat stress.  Two remain and are now only about 3 weeks from harvest. Sadly, one of them (now 10ft tall) has had BADLY sagging fan leaves for 4 days now and temps remain around 90 degrees F.

My question..  Even through there is very little amber in the trichomes, should I take her down now, or should I let her run a bit longer?

The sugar leaves still look fine and all the colas are still upright.  Just don't know if I should harvest now since every single fan leaf appears to be on its death-bed.

Thanks in advance for the guidance

Have you considered something like shade cloth to give them a break from the heat of the day? You would have to rig up some kind of support, but it would help I think

Hey @Monkeydo I'm so glad you replied.  For now I'll just say that your application of manifolding may have a benefit you haven't yet yet realized.  Details follow...

This outdoor season, I ran 3 of the same genetic. (Pistacchio by Humold Seed co.)

Via HOHG you convinced me to try out manifolding, so I left 1 of the 3 to grow naturally with no topping or training, as a standard against which to compare the other 2 which underwent manifold training.

The manifolds performed well and got really big.

But the natural plant (which i went on to name "Talll Girl") grew to become a 10ft tall christmas tree.

Moving on, this turned out to be a particularly hot summer here in central Illinois.

Being my first attempt at manifold, I was too aggressive with training and mid-summer one plants experienced severe stem splitting and despite my efforts, it ended up being chopped due to heat stress.

Jump ahead to now.  Tall Girl ended up being over 10ft tall and 7ft wide and now 3 weeks from harvest died due to heat stress.

In comparison however, the 1 remaining manifold is stacking huge colas and fan leaves are dark green an very soild.  All is good.

So now I have a theory..

Tall Girl died due to heat stress because she couldn't pump fluids all the way through those 10ft long stems to keep her cool and alive.  The manifold however has a shorter distance from the roots to the tips of the 8 mains, so it's getting plenty of fluids.

Maybe bro science, maybe evidence of another benefit to manifolding.

Your thoughts???

Thanks

It sounds like this could use a little more testing, but in this case it worked. My guess is the more compact size limited some of the transpiration from the leaves. The mainline was supposedly developed as a way to provide the fastest route for plant to manage water and nutrients by shortening the path to its minimum. Although I have the temperature as well as the intense sun here, I can’t test this because of the legal status.

@monkeydo law here disallowed outdoor, but ya know...  green happens.

And I'm 500ft off the end of a dead-end road so don't have to worry much about prying eyes.
