Muddy had to leave the states and go to the UK to be liked. They excepted his loud volume that wasn't excepted in the US at the time.
@woodi2 seems like a lot of Blues artists have to go to England/Europe to be heard !! After hearing Joe Bonamassa’s Royal Albert Halls performance, I’ve been a fan.
Saw him last year during a 420 vacation to Colorado, Red Rocks has to be my all time favorite venue.

Great place for a show but the walk up to your seats might take a while, especially if you weren’t expecting the climb. We didn’t know about the ramps our first time there so it was 380 steps up but we took the ramps to exit, was much easier.

@monkeydo and let’s throw the thin air on top of that for those of us living a little closer to see level.
Wow, thinking back to this show, was it really 10 years ago since my first Red Rocks show!!

Yep, I forgot to mention that little tidbit, the stadium sits at 6400 ft elevation you begin the climb in high altitude conditions so you best be ready for that. I’ve done a fair bit of hiking so the air wasn’t a factor for me but my non hiking wife was breathing so hard I thought someone was running a leaf blower behind me 🤣🤣. Imagine my embarrassment when my stoned to the bone wife decided to lay down on the stairs to rest while people were trying to walk across/around her not once but multiple times. Still, with all the obstacles it was an epic venue that everyone should experience and now I have some stories about the wife’s very first high altitude climb 😂

@monkeydo, I lived on the Continental Divide at 10,500ft base and were able to have access to the 13,800+ft peaks around us. We'd go to Red Rocks for concretes in my 67 Ford Country Squire station wagon. The one with the simulated wood paneling on the sides, and the flip up seats in the very back increased seating capacity to 9. I would drive (always), Kelly sat shotgun and Stacia sat between us. She would fed us a bites of mushrooms and then a bite of Ice Cream sandwich, we found that to be the best combination for consuming mushrooms. We'd make the 100mile trip and 75 miles were on dirt road, we'd wouldn't hit the payment till almost Denver. But we did have to remember to put clothes on when we got to Red Rocks. That was a long time ago, thanks for the memory. 🌼
Clark Griswald, is that you……. LOL
I luv it, family road trips, good times and memories.

You can just make out the writing above the stage.
We got there in an old converted School Bus (I say converted but it was just painted psychedelic and had couches and recliners instead of bus seats, really!!). Some guy from Denver sold tickets and called it his public service organization to keep stoned people off the road. As soon as the doors closed he announced that we were free to “medicate any way that you deem necessary” and cranked up the tunes. Joints and bongs were everywhere, we were dabbing wax, there were ice chests everywhere too. An honest mobile house party all the way to the stadium. As we got closer to the amphitheater people had to pee and the driver told them to just get off and go to the businesses that were along the road. The traffic was so stop and go that you could easily catch up and get back on the bus. Soon everyone was jumping on and off for food and drinks too. We laughed so much! Then we got there and learned busses had to park at the rear of the parking lot. That was quite a walk from there after more dabs than I can remember but we made it. Definitely a ride to remember and one that I’d do again today.

@monkeydo they took the sign down, so I can’t prove I was there .
Who did you have the pleasure of seeing there ?

@sevans1965 the show was Joe Walsh and Bad Company together. They didn’t have one billed top over the other, they flipped a coin to see who played first.
I remember going all the way up to the top to get a drink and forgot to look where we were sitting. I got back to about where I thought the row was and in about 15 seconds someone said are you lost. I said I was looking for my wife… the cry of “we have a lost wife, lost wife” rippled across the crowd and my Mrs stood up. Damn those stoners are mighty fine people and so darn helpful too.
