Forecast models released by the bureau of meteorology are hinting to a poor growing season to come for us south hemi chargers looking to do outdoor and guerilla grows this coming spring.
We are now entering our 3rd lanina summer with a negative IOD in the Indian ocean streaming moisture across the country like an atmospheric river , then smacking right into the sweet spot of lanina on the east coast.
Those conditions are bad enough for growers ordinarily..... But then a third combatant entered the beatdown on growers to really sink it.
In January this year a tiny island east of Australia basically blew the fkn up. The Hunga Tonga, Hunga Ha,apie volcano in Tonga decided it was time to basically kill everything in a 25klm radius of itself and go supernova. This is a big deal folks this eruption even though the media and world events have overshadowed it is the largest eruption even recorded with the sound being heard over a whooping 5,000 miles away (Krakatoa was previously the loudest sound recorded at 3,000 miles for contrast). The bad thing for Australia is the ash plume and sulphur dioxide cloud headed north and hitched a ride on the Jetstream straight into QLD with the dioxide cloud dispersing across our east coast. So now with an already cloudy, wet outlook when we do get the sun it will be filtered by the sulphur dioxide robbing us of those precious photons. Looks like it might be a good season to stay indoors.

Yeah I remember watching that volcano go of by them two islands like, I watched that video of it from space about 50 times in a row, scaring the fuck out me self lol. Don’t know if it’s just my stoner brain making connections between random events, but have noticed there’s been loads of earthquakes and volcanic activity on the news in the last 18 months or so, an when I’m stoned late at night I convince me self that fuckin YellowStone is about to go of or something 😆😬

Wow thanks for the info bro, that's a bit shite! I was hoping to get into the garden this season, looks like I'll be prioritizing indoors also. It won't stop me from a few pots around the yard but at least ill always have my home grow! 👍

@improper_weed_viking yeah after having a dive into the current projections I decided on not running anything outdoors this year again. It's been a while since I have run outdoor and was hoping for a win but the weather gods clearly have other ideas....
Looks like another year of indoor runs for Aussie growers.

@gelert mother earth is constantly in a state of readyness to wipe us out. I'm watching the supervolcano at Naples currently as we not long ago purchased a house in northern Italy and I'm freaking out about wether I've just bought an ash pit.

@billy420bonds man if you could come up with a spray that was safe on plants but had the reverse effect of solar reflection that could be sprayed in a greenhouse to increase photons you'd be on the cover of high times my friend

@sevans1965 not sure it'd take accounting all the variables. The only big eruption we have to go off is the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa, which now is second to Hunga Tonga. In that there was aerosols still present post 5 years but the ash caused one global winter where it snowed in California directly after the event and caused around a 2-5° cooling that summer globally.
That won't be the case here as Hunga was a submarine volcano that let go (lol take a moment to think the mass of this ejection was under the ocean and those island were just on the outer edge of the creator) and it's eruption consisted of about 80% steam which is going to heat the globe instead of a traditional eruption which cools it due to the amount of earth thrown up in the air.
So yeah the sneaky thing is we'll have great warm spring and summer days coming that feel just right but that sulphur dioxide will be doing it's solar reflection thing blocking the good stuff plants need and unless someone who knows tells those who wouldn't have felt a difference they'll be a few growers wondering why what felt like a normal but a bit more rainy than usual growing season went to crap so I must explain why this is looking to be the case and if you've got the means to go indoors now's the best time to hit that shit lol
