Not sure if these are the correct terms, but I hope someone knows what I mean. Is cannabis oil a solution or suspension? ie. Can it settle out (assuming it was adequately filtered in the first place).
Time to grow old disgracefully.
It's in solution. Whether lipids (fats), or alcohol, or other soluble compounds, it won't settle out, no. The cannabinoids actually bind with the molecules in the non-polar solvent instead of just floating around in the fluid.
'Oil' tho, as in RSO or 'Crude Oil', Honey Oil, etc., should already have the solvent (usually hydrocarbon based - ethanol, butane, hexane, etc.) purged and so isn't in solution anymore nor is it a suspension. It's just concentrated resin, at that point.
I assume you're talking about the oils that are 'carrier' oils like grapeseed, MCT, coconut, etc., tho, and like I said, with those the cannabinoids are in solution and won't settle out.
Hope that makes sense?
