Sorry for the late reply man, i have had a busy day and completely missed this in the moderation queue. 

You need a couple of inches to put into the medium for the roots to grow

A couple of inches between the leaves and the medium, and 2 nodes of leaves at the top of the cutting

So about 5-6 inches. I hope that helps mate 

No worries, thanks for the info. I’d cut them to 6-8” so I’m in the ballpark. Was just concerned that they might be too big

Hey Macky.  At 8 days, 6 of 12 have roots, 1 wilted and pitched. I do 5 gallon doc. My donor plants are in 500ppms. What would you recommend I start the clones. Thanks for any advice 

Hmmm im not sure what EC that PPM is lol. Start off very light mate you can always build up from there, but too much will shock the plants. 

@macky. Sorry that would be .5 ec.  for seedlings, I usually start around.2ec 

And one final question if I may. What is the minimum lights on for a mother plant

@jammie I would guess 14 hours but 16 preferred.  Shouldn't really matter how powerful your light is as long as photo plants don't get more than 11-12 hours of darkness they SHOULDN'T flower 

I’d say above 14 hrs light per day min. It’s not common but some plants have been known to flower at 14 hrs light.
