Hey everyone, I am experimenting with taking cuttings whenever I can to practice and see if I can keep them alive. I think I want to flip the light cycle really soon but before I do I wanted to take a few lower branches that I don't think are going to produce more than popcorn buds for me and see if I can clone them.
I've had success keeping the cuttings in the corner of the tent before so I want to stick to that method.
My question is, if I take the cuttings and flip in the next few days what will happen to the cuttings and to the plants I took the cuttings from? Do you all think this is bad in anyway for the plants?
Let me know what you all think and thanks for your input!

The plants are in veg, you're going to flip them. You can take clones now. Nothing will happen to the mom other than a slight stretch but that's only if you remove a lot.
You can't leave the clones in the 12/12 light cycle though. You'll want to put the clones in the veg cycle. 18/6 or more. They need it. But it doesn't have to be a strong light.
@artmann Thanks! I'll want to keep the clones in the tent only until they are strong enough to switch environments to prioritize flipping to 12/12
how long would you recommend? I'm thinking at least a week. Then I can take them out and put under a different light/ environment I really only have 1 tent and the clones are more for fun/practice
Not sure how they would react. A week isn't much but I almost have roots by then the normal way. Let us know how it works.
@artmann Will do! I cloned the tops I chopped 3 weeks ago and they are doing really well now so I think for an experiment 1 week is relatively safe. I took 12 cuttings today between 5-7 inches long so well see how they look in a week!
also I just leveled up my growing skills by forking over a small fortune for a blue lab PH meter and my god was my ph all over the place... I think this will seriously improve the overall health of my grows. my peat pellets cam in around 4.5 PH and that's where I start my clones so now I got them close to 6.5 I think they will be much happier.
@shredmonkey, it's like finding a flashlight in the dark. Now you can see what the hells going on!!

@woodi2 Hahaha YES! that is a perfect description, but I honestly didn't realize how much it was affecting my grow. Definitely a year 2 purchase for new growers though. last year I started growing and put ALL available funds into Light, tent, & extraction. Got a Dehumidifier when it got to cure and this year homemade soil, mycorrhizal fungi & PH meter. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to prevent myself from getting spider mites this time... I'm thinking about predatory mites/nematodes
