Question URGENT ADVICE sought on harvesting- Beginner
I decided last night to switch light off early and feed her ph water 5.8. I lowered the temp to 21 degrees and humidity around 47 to 60 % through the night (its 5 degrees outside at night).
This morning her light is still off and I gave her a mini flush again with ph 5.8 water no nutes, and dropped the temp to 20 to 21 degrees and will mini flush her with ph water till tonight, then tomorrow morning plan to harvest her in the dark! lol
That is unless I discover some other way to prep her for harvesting.
hey @lolly, how's it going? so i see you have some nanners and your plant needs a little more time. so what to do? seeds suck! kinda, so maybe you should just play with her. cause if you chop now she's early and she could/will get better. so if it was me i'd do a doc Zombie operation and spray the nanners with water and try to cut them out. what do you have to lose, right.
then just look at your pics' if you don't have magnification. if you look you can see the plant has a white to clear sheen to it. that the light coming off the trichomes, try and wait till it looks more white to amber sheen. it looks like another week or more, i'd GUESS 9 days maybe. hope that helps. but i would salvage her as much as i could, just for the learning experience, and cause of the time and effort that you already have invested.
then it depends on your schedule, too. well i hope that helps some, let me know. peace
@woodi2 I decided to flush starting 2 days ago. I switched the lights out mid afternoon yesterday.
Last night I put ice cubes around the stem. Then reduced temp to 20 degrees.
This morning harvesting in the dark.
The plant does not look great so will go ahead and salvage what I can.
@woodi2 I was almost tempted. But I have to go away and the person looking after them sabotages them every time. So will take chances that I have saved what I can and might have some parts ripe enough.
Will focus on learning drying and curing on this one.
Time to give it another go. But maybe with DWC.
@woodi2 Curious as to why you had to end early.
I am glad I did the darkness and ice and low temp. The resin was so high compared to how dry the plant felt when I decided to harvest her.
I am quietly hopeful I will still get what I would like from the plant.
Well @lolly, I don't mean to piss on your camp fire man, but without having a comparison plant to go with, the things that you did may or may not have helped. We can say that they did, cause what's done is done. lol but seriously if your going to do or feed or try anything with your plant, it's hard to say how much it helped if you don't have something to compare it to. This is very true with harvest. Everyone has their own way to harvest and they're all correct. As the old saying goes "if you like it, I love it. but these are the things that we'll try, and we'll change them and then we'll try again to make sure that they Don't work! ha lol but it's all good, no damage done. next time may be different, but the weed will still be good.
I had to harvest early because of a surgery the doc's won't let me reschedule a third time. They were about a week early, but it's hard to tell now. I had to get them out and the new ones in. it worked out. hope this helped, happy drying and curing! Give a shout out if you got questions man. peace
@woodi2 Still curing, did samples along the way. At first with Fat Bertha (Plant A) who gave 3 oz, while still drying samples were tested daily with different fast drying methods.
Hit the spot with beautiful smell, lots of trichomes, pine type smell. Created lots of laughter and running from building to building for about 1.5 hours. Then the effect started wearing off a bit.
The older it gets (more cured) the more its more just pain control and more sitting doing nothing and forgetful - far from what I was trying to grow.
Plant B (Tall Twiggy) hung to dry early:
After curing (tested along the way). Nearly finished drying, when tested really good feeling, some laughter, some energy, cotton wool mouth after about 30 minutes. Take more and it turns into sit and do nothing and more foggy brain.
Will see how Tall twiggy goes as she has been drying for about 8 days I think. Lots of humidity here at the moment so struggling to keep humidity down at night where she is drying. About 50 to 65% during the day and 70 to 75% overnight.
I know its too much, it dries her out during the day and at night she gets more moist again. Kinda ties in with outside humidity despite having air con on and a fan and an inline fan. If I use the dehumidifier the temp gets harder to control it goes too high at night.
Will change many things for next attempt.
Hey @Lolly, glad things are working out with the cure, sounds like your getting the hang of it.
I wouldn't be too concerned with the night time RH. open up the area their in and let the air move around some. Do that a couple of times a day, maybe. The slower the better, right. you'll make it happen.
Yes each strain is different, and each seed can be different even from the same plant. Can be aggravating if you are looking for something specific. I'm just try to get two plants to look the same!!!! LOL
This is where clones come in handy. You can make an entire army of little green look alikes.
Well congrats and enjoy the fruits of your labor. 😀 peace
