Dutch Passion #1 - Outdoor 2020
Seeds: 3 x Dutch Passion #1
Medium: Westlands multipurpose compost w/ John Innes & Perlite
Nutrients: BioBizz Fish-Mix, Bio-Bloom & Top-Max
Once the seedlings were showing a little leaf they were left in a sunny windowsill indoors until 27/05/20 when they were then transferred into their final 12L pots and left outside*. Since then I have been feeding them a 1ml/L solution of of Fish Mix with each water, (as per the BioBizz instructions) 2-3 time’s per week or as needed.
Once the girls were settled and showing at least 4 nodes I topped them and began LST. I’ve trained on three occasions, giving them around a week between each bend, and it’s now 8 weeks since germination.
*one of the three looked like it didn’t take root and as though it was a bit mutated. Anyway it didn’t make the repot and so I’m down to two girls.
Ok that’s it for now, will post more updates over the coming weeks. All advice is welcome. Thanks!
I was in two minds about whether to top all the new growth on my girls but woke up this morning and decided to go for it. I figure if it doesn’t develop how i imagine it will then I’ll learn something in the process and not bother next year.
This is them before being topped:
And this is them post-topping:
Topped 13 sites in total:
The weather is forecasted for nothing but hot sunshine for the next 2-3 weeks so should be a good few weeks for the girls to bounce back and get some new growth going.
thats a lot of topping mate, usually just once at the main cola is enough. Going to be good to see how she turns out!
Growboy , nice work man👍She going to be a fat fat girl😁good luck on the grow bro✊
After the nail-biting decision to top all 13 main growth sites last week I’m happy to say that both girls look like they’re doing alright. It took them a few days to get going but since then there’s been steady new growth coming through.
I’ll probably give them another week or so of growth and then I’ll up their feed by an extra 0.5ml per litre. I also PH tested my water the other day and found it to be a bit on the high side (7.5-8.0). I ordered some PH reducer and amended it to about 6.3-6.5, so hopefully the girls will enjoy having easier access to their nutrients from now on.
I also built this on the weekend...
After a hail storm early on, that peppered around 50% of the fan leaves, and some heavy wind/rain this past week, I felt like I needed something to give them a bit of protection when necessary.
That’s all for now folks!
It’s been a fairly pants week and a half of weather here; limited sun and a lot of rain and heavy winds. Building a small, lean-to green house a couple of weeks back it seems was quite fortuitous! 😅 Managed to keep them mostly dry which meant I could carry on with their feeding cycle uninterrupted.
I’m now giving them 1.5ml/L of the FishMix and will continue with that for about another week before increasing to 2ml/L. I’ll then steadily increase up to about 3ml/L for the remainder of the veg.
Here they are at Day 69:
And again at Day 71 after doing a bit of LST to open them up a little:
And this is them today on Day 73:
Filling out nicely now, starting to look like ‘70’s Porn Bushes’ 😁
(credit to @Macky for that one)
Had a fairly sunny week and half here and the girls have been making the most of it, stretching upwards and outwards since my last post.
Feeding is now at 2ml/L of the Fish Mix which I’ll be increasing to 2.5ml/L later this week and then up to 3ml/L around the start of August.
From there I’ll just be making sure the colas are nicely spread out, perhaps doing a bit of defoliation heading into August, while also keeping an eye out for first signs of flowering.
Here they are at Day 75 after a little LST:
And again at Day 81:
And finally today at Day 84:
Very nice job growboy😎she looks like she might need a wax shortly 😂she spilling out the side of her pants😉
Lime green new growth?
Just want to check in with peeps about lighter, lime green new growth on my plants.
Is this normal?
If not, is it some kind of deficiency?
Could it be the recent cooler nights?
Do I need to do anything?
Many thanks! 🙏🏼
