[Solved] First SCROG grow, Amnesia Fast and Pineapple Chunk, by monkeydo with guidance by MACKY
monkeydo's first SCROG grow, Amnesia Fast by Seedsman and Pineapple Chunk by Barneys Farm
Media: Coco coir with 30% pearlite
Size of Grow Area and number of plants:
Vivosun 36 x 20 x 62 inches
0.9 x 0.5 x 1.6m
2 plants, one AM and one PCh
1 Philizon 600w led (108w actual)
1 Chinese reflector LED of unknown wattage (about 200W estimate)
4" extraction with carbon filter
3 gallon black nursery pots
Fox Farm Grow Big and Tiger Bloom with Flower Fuel PK boost
Apera Instruments PH20
Hone Forest TDS/EC meter
Hydrofarm LGBQM Quantum PAR Meter
Plan for the grow:
This is my first scrog run. I will be using clones that were grown from cuttings of a current grow. The clones were 14 inches tall when they were placed in the tent so I won't have any details of the early life of these plants but were healthy and very flexible. Hopefully I plan to flip to flower very quickly or I'll have to do some trimming soon. This log is a rebuild of a lost one so the plants are already in the tent and under the lights currently in veg at a par level of aprox 350um/sqm with the lights at 24 inches above the canopy. The Philizon light is not as strong so it needs to be a bit closer for an even light level.
With lights on:
Currently feed ec is 1.2
Very nice mate, screen will be filled within a week easily! Going to be flipping soon by the looks of it.
Plants look happy and healthy too, so just about letting them grow a bit and getting the structure right. just gotta keep tucking 😉
New nute mix today, without cal/mag because Amazon is a week late!!!! Hopefully it'll get here today.
8 liters rainwater starting ec 0.027
10ml Grow Big
5ml compost tea concentrate
ending ec 0.825, ph 5.9
Amnesia Fast ec 0.965 Pineapple Chunk ec .906
ec input from last feed was 1.2
Todays tent conditions: temp 75f rh 53%
The plants have definitely adjusted to the new environment and are responding well to the light. as the plants grow I'm poking them back trying to leave only 1 node per net square. It seems right but I know macky will assess the situation and keep me on the path needed
Been working on the left side and the right is as it was this morning for comparison. Removing only the fan leaves that are shading the growth nodes at this point.
Shouldn't be long till the screen fills completely
One side note, the led light I described as unknown is
is a "Rockpals 1200w" It looks like a knockoff of the Viperspectra 1200w light. Manufacturer claims its actual watts are 400 but I seriously doubt its efficiency if that is true but the PAR values are very good. Never did a full run with it before, we will see............
Have you flipped these yet mate? Screen filled fast and i'm worried about the stretch lol maybe its time
Nice set up Monkey, best of luck with the grow buddy, your in good hands with the gaffer 😂🤙🏻
Niiice man lookin sweet best of luck mate
@Green Beard @ScottishMac thanks guys. I’m confident Macky has a few things he can teach me about growing in general. Looking forward to this grow myself.
Quick update so my mentor can check the progress. First of all I'm still waiting on cal/mag from amazon, should be here tomorrow. Flip to flower was 2 days ago and the scrog net is nearly full. Been cleaning up some of the underside of the growth now that its easy to see there won't be room for all the shoots. Continue to remove fan leaves blocking nodes to get the light to stimulate growth sites.
Since I really want to focus on getting the nutes right I've turned my daily data into a line graph showing ec input and output. The very first data point is out of the ordinary because there was an ec reduction in the input solution because of the absence of cal/mag
When the cal/mag arrives I'll take another look at ec in and out and possibly make adjustments at that time.
don't trim for a while now mate trimming now can encourage the stretch and slow down the onset of flowers. Next trim will be the last one, just as flowers start to form. Then we get rid of all the bottom shit
Wont be long, you wont even notice you've trimmed the tomorrow lol
After the flip to 12/12 the plants slowed down before switching gears and growing again. The scrog continues to fill and I have been trying to keep the active shoots poked under the scrog.
These pictures are from today before I tucked the new growth under the screen. I'm finding that the older the plant gets the more time it takes to scrog it properly, thats assuming Im doing anything right. Pictures are left side of tent, right side, followed by overall views. Amnesia is on the left side of the tent. Plants still look to be feeding well. Finally ran out of the Fox Farms Grow Big for hydro (Hurray!) so I substituted the Grow big for soil at only 1/4 rate with a small increase in cal mag to equal the original nutes balance. The ph is being held between 5.8 and 6.1. EC in and out are shown below
Pineapple Chunk is only starting to show pistils as of yesterday and should start really showing flower very soon.
But Amnesia Fast will be a week later if history repeats itself.
Now that we have started the flower process the light level has been increased to ~950par center and 600par on the edges. The tent temps are 70f nights and 78f lights on with rh between 50 and 60 percent.
Awesome update mate! Scrogs looking good and the plants are happy. Nearly time to introduce a bit of PK, but let the stretch finish first
Glad to hear I didn't screw it up yet lol. Thanks for the guidance bro
This is awesome. Following for sure
Looks like your sensei is working for you, Scrog on Scrog off 😎
