Title:

TallShayShay

Amsterdam Genetics Super Silver Haze, 4x cuttings In Coco under Hps

 Medium:

Coco in 4x 18L material pots

Size of Grow Area and number of plants:

1.5x 1.5x 2.2 M grow tent with four plants

Lighting:

1x 600hps

Extraction:

Mountain Air Ec whisper silencer fan with 600mm carbon filter. 6” (currently finding this a strong fan and cooling the tent down too well)

Nutrients:

Feeding with Buddhas grow nutrients.

Equipment:

1500w oil rad, 12inch box fan, clip on fan

Plan for the grow

As this is my first time growing I’m trying a combo of topping on two plants and scrogging all 4 to see the difference.

For the future I would like to add a LED light setup, but I grow in my garage and would struggle with temperature. Any advice?

Thanks for taking the time to read,

Currently in week two of Veg, I’m planning to see how big the plants are come end of week three, then decide to flip to flower, or to veg for one more week.

I grow in my garage and would struggle with temperature. Any advice?

looking good mate! Very nice start to your diary.

Insulation is good for keeping the grow room hot or cold. GB wrote a post about it a few days ago actually. LED is good for growing in summer, but if you have temperature problems in the winter HPS is best for solving that problem 🙂

Oil rad heaters are good for keeping the grow room warm too.

Great set up @TallShayShay, your onto a winner there buddy, I to grow in the garage which can be a killer on the electric trying to keep the tent warm, for a quick fix I highly recommend getting 2 or 3 rolls of the bubble wrap insulation and make a jacket for the tent. I done this very late in my first grow and it cut my heating costs drastically. It went from heater on for 40mins an hr to like 10, over a full grow that would have saved me a small fortune. Your climate will also make a big difference, like where I am it’s never really too hot or cold, we range from 24 to -3 cel throughout the year so it’s reasonably mild all year round.

best of luck with the grow buddy your first is always the best 🤙🏻

Yea I left one side open and just lifted it up when I went in to the tent, it was a rush job, had I have had more time and more materials to work with, it would have been more practical, and duct tape is gona be your best friend for sealing and joining it all up together,

D4B1ED64 1FC9 4C75 B84F A78896BA018B

I circled my door, I was growing in the same size space as you and used 12mtrs of bubble insulation, I’d suggest 16 will make a massive difference, definitely get a second person to give a hand if you can. It’s quite tricky trying to do it solo, my other half is a cunt and won’t help me with anything to do with my grow 😂 but hopefully you have a nicer significant other who will help you lol, of your in Ireland I’d be more then happy to give you a dog out getting it sorted 🤙🏻

Good luck with the grow man. Only thing left to do now is get it done. Sounds like you’ve done some research so that’s always a positive. I’m not very familiar with silver haze so I’ll be following your run for sure.

Right quick update. Day 13

I noticed last week that one of the plants looked slightly different (less bushy leaves and a lighter shade of green.

I got these clones and was told they were all SSH. Other than the one being not the same strain is there any other explanation?

Plant in question is the one on the left.

Loads of things can make the difference mate. Maybe because its the furthest from the fan, its not getting as much breeze so it is perspiring as much, meaning its eating less lol.

It dont look bad, and im sure itll catch up. Rotate them every time you feed so they get a nice share of the light

Update,

I’ve Scrog’d it today, and flipped to flower.
Do people think it’s too early by looking at the plants?

TIA

Lol, how do you like my first ever meme? You've just put your netting over the plants though I assume? Scrogging is more of a process.. takes a while to weave the branches through the mesh for efficient coverage. 🙂

@Macky is probably the guy to speak to this topic though..

@tallshayshay generally you would keep vegging until you have 75% of the screen full then flip to flower  the flower stretch will finish filling it out.

Great strain to grow! Pay attention to advice from the team that one can be finicky. But that lemon lime smell and between the eyes karate chop of the quality SSH is awesome. FYI expect a full 75 days of flowering AFTER you see the first flowers, so like 90 days of 12/12. You really need to let all the glands fill out but it will be worth the wait. Also, worth the weight, get it? These plants pack on 75% of their weight in the very end of the flowering cycle.

Little Update, Flipped to 12/12 on the 14th.

I've noticed on one of the plants a deficiency, I’ve looked on the guides and think it may be Phosphorus? Could anyone shed some light?

I think the ph of the res might be off a little bit, but nothing major mate.

Usually, at this stage, i like to give a folia fed os fome epsom salts. The mag helps break down calcium and gives them a nice boost before flower i find. Do that.

Just a third of a table into a litre is enough. The spray over the leves of the plant using a mister bottle.

Up the cal mag in the res just a touch as well, they will need the extra energy as the stretch comes now 🙂

Leave the An B as it is though. The plant is proably used to it where it is

@tallshayshay If you raise the light then yer man its cool. Just be careful not to spray massive droplets, that will cause your leaves to brun 🙂

So raise the light high as i'll go, then spray the plant lightly all over. Let the fans blow over the for half hour or so to dry them, then lower the lgiht back down 🙂

Day 38, Flower day 16.

I noticed a couple of leaves with a few holes in them this morning, I pulled them and looked at them. I noticed a microscopic white pest. 🙄 I’m going for a mite of sort. Only found 1. I’ve gone online to order some neem oil but it’s saying 11-14 days delivery. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what they could be(Spider mite). And what I can do to get rid. Thank you

I’ll get a picture later today if I can of any of the pests.

Hmmmm, would need to see a pick to be sure, but microscopic white pest, could be spider mites, might be thrips, either way its a big, and we have to kill it lol.

Have a look here: https://percysgrowroom.com/forum/bugs-pests/identifying-bugs-on-a-cannabis-plant/

Any of them?

@tallshayshay

Yes mate do that, and get some good pics, with the light off in the tent, of the whole plant, and some up close shots of the leaves, on top and under neath.

We might not be able to see the bugs, but if you can identify what damage is being done, it is easier to tell what bug it is.

If you ave little white dots on the leaves, we might be looking at spider mites.

If they are bigger more like spit patches, rather than small dots, then it will be thrips.

Main thing is dont panic, dont rush to treat them, make sure we find out what they are first 🙂 Not much can happen in 24 hours. So let get it diagnosed later, and start treatment asap 🙂

@macky I don’t see white dots, more cuts/holes in some leaves. I’ll get some good pics when home
