39 days since the flip to 12:12. Last week, I forgot to reconnect the supply hose after I cleaned my reservoir, and the plant went approximately three days without water or nutrients. Shortly thereafter, I had a lot of brown spots and yellowing. I'm not sure if the dry spell was the cause. Looks like a calcium deficiency. I hit the plant with an epsom salt foliar spray, cut out the Big Bud, and increased the CalMag. Might also just be the late-flower decline in the leaves. I'd appreciate peoples' thoughts on what happened and what, if anything, I should do about it.
On the positive side, the buds are stacking up nicely. This is the first grow where I've managed to keep the canopy from getting too deep and the stretch to go on too long. Previously, my buds have been spaced out on the stem instead of growing together to form larger buds.
The million dollar question is whether there will be seeds in those big buds.
47 days since the flip to 12:12. A couple of days ago, I unplugged the pump for my automatic watering system to clean the reservoir and then plugged it back into the wrong outlet on my two-outlet timer. At some point, the outlet turned on and pumped three gallons out, overflowed the pot and my discharge bucket, and made a huge mess! I put tape over the wrong outlet now. Don't be like me.
The leaves are looking rough, but the buds look pretty good. I've cut out the Big Bud and cut back on the nutes. Input EC is down to 1.1. Output EC is at 1.2 to 1.3.
There are still some white hairs and I do not see any amber trichomes yet.
51 days since the flip. The leaves are showing their age, but I still do not see any amber trichomes, and the plant is still producing white pistils. I would like to harvest before anything goes wrong, but it seems I have to wait a bit.
I'm back to wrap this one up. The end of my grow coincided with a busy month, and I neglected my journal. I harvested in mid August. Lots of big buds! And I have never managed to grow any big buds before. Credit the White Widow strain and, hopefully, my improving skills. The drying process was much slower than in my previous experience. I attribute that to the size of the buds and better control over the humidity in my grow tent.
Once it was dried and trimmed, I had 248 grams of flower and 30 grams of trim. Not bad for one plant!
The flower does not have a very strong aroma, at least compared to the two varieties from my last grow. The aroma of the White Widow is kind of earthy, whereas my last two plants included a gassy one and a fruity one. Maybe they've benefited from eight months of curing. Maybe the White Widow can pick up its game over the next few months.
The smoke report is that it gets the job done, but is just not very flavorful. Not one of my favorites.
The two photos with the scale show the same bud at different points in the drying process. I kept weighing it see when it was dry enough to start curing.
I had 248 grams of flower and 30 grams of trim
Beautiful mate! What a harvest, well done man
@lucky-larue Nice job mate, that's a big haul 😀 she was a beauty of a plant, that's a shame if it doesn't tick all the boxes in the taste department but if it gets the job done that's still a win. Well done man 🙂 🥂
