Hi all, I’m on day 75 of veg and wanting to flip ASAP.

I have two biscotti mintz, one was stunted from over watering and does not have this issue pictured.

The leaf pictured are at the top of the plant. There is no top head on this plant as I have LST it to keep even with the stunted plant.

The other leaves aren’t healthy looking but none are as damaged as this top leaf set.

They are both in 5 gallon pots. I was wondering whether the bigger non stunted plant with issues has outgrown its medium? Which is bio bizz light. Both in nutes and in size. That’s why the other plant is still healthier looking.

I would really appreciate any opinions on what this issue could be down to, before I do anything to act on it. I am finding it difficult to confine it to one single thing. Does anyone have any theories? Thanks!

@twisted1 Thanks so much for the response. I have ordered some soil PH test strips. I have a bluelab combi meter, which tests the rain water I use at 6.7. My tap water is around 7.3 and sometimes I top the feed up with this (could be causing issues?).

Should I correct the PH of the feed down? or wait until I can test the soil?

Always best to PH any inputs nutrients or water.  when i get symptoms that seem to be multiple issues it usually ends up being a Ph issue. and its usually due to me getting lazy. yeah if they need fed or watered Ph it properly and check the soil when you receive the test strips. are you using a cal mag?

@twisted1

Thanks for the advice, it is really helpful. I am going to give them a PH adjusted feed to stop them drooping too much but will enquire into the soil's PH as soon as the strips arrive. I was previously leaning towards it being rootbound but this makes more sense now. I have been using a small amount of cal mag in every feed, maybe 3-4 drops per litre. Could that be an issue? I've been going lighter on the nutes,in general, never given more than 3/4 strength.

I'm glad I came to Percy's. I was lazy and hadn't been testing PH. I think I've had some bad advice about organics and PH not being as big a concern for biobizz soil.

Thanks again for your replies, it is massively appreciated Starry Eyes

@twisted1 Thanks again for your advice. I wanted to follow up the thread so others can see the resolution.

Soil tests revealed my soil to be in the range of 7.2-5

For context:

  • My Tap water: 7.5 PH
  • My Rain water: 6.8 PH
  • My 3/4 strength BioBizz Feed’s PH would have been variable between these.
  • BioBizz recommends to aim for 6.2-6.5 PH
  • I have decided to pot up from a 5 gal to a 7 gal pot (again using BioBizz light mix). I will then feed at a nutrient solution adjusted to PH of 6.2 moving forward.

Added pictures for latest plant health. Hopefully the comeback starts here and the only way is up!
