Hi all,

I've had a number of plants (5 different cultivars) suddenly begin to reveg on me in week 6! The only thing that I have changed in the last week or so has been increasing the intensity of the light (setting a Viparspec P2000 it to 100% for mid day, it was at 75% previously.

I would like to limit or reverse the reveging as much as possible.

Since yesterday, I have reduced the light hours from 12 to 9, and turned the P2000 back down to 75%, but is there anything else to be done?

At least one plant is bad enough that I am tempted to chop early, but it is seeded (they all are) so I'd hate to cut the seed maturation short (they were all pollinated approx. 1 month ago). Should I just selectively harvest the most badly affected branches early? Reduce the light even more? something else?

Any advice would be most welcome!

@dr-jitter-bug are you sure you dont have any light leaks any where mate? Raising the intensity of the light is unlikely to reveg, that is usually down to the hours of light its getting.... maybe when you increased it, the light doesn't turn all the way off any more and still glows a little in dark hours, have your checked for things like that?

@macky I should sure up the window coverings (I don't own a tent) to be on the safe side - but they have been rolling along just fine in that room until now. Is it typical for leaks to cause reveg late in flower?

@dr-jitter-bug a constant light leak can definitely cause re-veg up until probably last few weeks of flower, only because at that time the plant doesn't have  sufficient time to reveg.  Even a lught on your ac unit, dehumidifier wtc can cause it if plant is sensitive. Can you give us some pics, just to verify?  Smile

@dr-jitter-bug I know it’s not a help just now, but next time try a few autoflowers as they are much less sensitive to light problems. You will always get something from them and they give you good quality weed for sure😃 and they finish up a little faster also. Good luck hopefully all gets better with your grow 👍

Yes, your plants can try to re-veg at any point. It happened to me on a LA Peyote Kush run and that was caused by a small red led on a power strip that the cover tape fell off of. It wasn’t much but it did the damage. Depending on the strain it doesn’t take a lot to re-veg plants.

@monkeydo Do you happen to know of any non-auto strains that are less sensitive?

@dr-jitter-bug I’ve not tested any strains for that trait so no, I can’t say that I know of any photo period plants resistant to light leaks. I do everything I can to avoid light leaks such as lights on with sun up and dark tents at night.

@monkeydo Thanks. I'm new at this and have been stubbornly trying to avoid using a tent, but I can see more and more that the light protection may really be worth all of the other limitations.

@dr-jitter-bug Have you tried aluminum foil to block the windows. Thats what I used back at college when I worked the night shift and didn't have morning classes. Nothing passes through the foil

@monkeydo I haven't. That would be a good solution, but the windows are quite visible from the street. The plastic (black/white Mylar sheets from the grow store) worked previously, I think I must have just been too cavalier about taping it up this go.

Do you (or other forum members) have any thoughts on manicuring and using flowers that underwent some period of reveg? I feel like I should be able to just trim off the silly bits?

@dr-jitter-bug Those bits shouldn’t be an issue. Just trim off what doesn’t look good.

If the film on the windows is leaking light you can always foil on the inside of the film you have on the window already. That way you wouldn’t see the silver from the street.

@dr-jitter-bug If you dont want foil showing at the window you could try using some blackout fabric/curtain, that's what I used to make a big light proof curtain when I was growing in the shower and needed to cover the glass door 🙂

I had a light leak through a duct. I couldn't see it until i stood in the dark room for a few minutes.

I re-taped the window covers last night and set up some new light barriers. Fingers crossed that it doesn't get much worse before I can chop.
