DWC probable PH issue
Running a recirculating DWC using General Organic Go Box Nutes ( probably a bad choice), the directions for the nutes say PH adjustment is not necessary, when first mixed it was at 5.0 i PH'd up to 5.8 next morning PH was at 8.0 so I PH'd down to 5.8, every morning after the PH reads 6.7 and I lower it until the last 2 days were ive left it alone and now 1 of 3 plants has this issue
today i Ph'd it back down to 5.8, when I ordered the nutes they claimed it was for hydroponics, I find little info on hydro and organic for DWC mostly salt based this plant has grown wide but is not getting tall.
Thinking I should have stayed with what I know (soil)
Drain the system go with remo nutrients the supercharged kit!! It’s got a buffer in it. I run at 6.5 and 66 degrees water temp
Thanks Jen, Unfortunately I dont have any place close to get nutes, but i will get some for next time.
Ill try to change the res out and not PH it we will see where it settles to before i refill, My temps have been around 68f in the reservoir.
Yes don’t ph it until the nutes settle. The product you’re using my have a ph buffer in it making it 6.4 before any ph chemical is added.
do you have a chiller/heater?
got a reply back from General Hydroponics
Good morning Richard- the GO Box is for growing soil, and only will work for passive, hand watered hydroponic methods which utilize natural growing media like coco or peat. Nutrient solutions made with the GO Box components needs to be used within 4 hours of mixing. This is why there are no feed charts for recirculating use anywhere- only for drain to waste use. This product will not work in a hydroponic system because it is organic- you need to be using a hydroponic nutrient for this purpose. The desire to grow organically in a hydroponic system cannot move past the thought stage as the two growing methods are simply not compatible. Organic nutrients start to break down within 4 hours of mixing with water, and will begin to ferment.
Please reach out if you have any further questions.
Damn when i bought it it said for hydroponic so I thought it would do for DWC
roots are thru net pot so i cant transplant themback to soil, looks like I have to do what they say wont work and pull off this RDWC grow. here are some picks at 34 days
hmmmm, any idea why it cant be used for DWC?
You got air stones right? instead of recirculating, maybe just change the buckets every day? Fresh res everyday might keep them happy?
they break down and ferment,
but if your airstone is running it wont ferment right? It should stay good for 24 hours?
