Guys....big problem. How can I defend the plants against frost. I have lows of 6 degrees C coming and frost warnings! Please help!
A good way to fix your problem is to build a small green house with some clear plastic sheet
and knock 4 lengths of timber in the ground round the plants (have not seen them but guessing there small)
cut the plastic to size and staple it to the wood over the top and 3 sizes and have one side hanging (stapled at the top corners and stick sides with some Velcro on the sides to hold it in place
very cheap basic setup that could save your plants and keep them warmer for the next few weeks
That's a big problem, guess you could put something over the root mass of a night to keep the roots warmer.
don't know if you can wrap the main stem with anything to keep the bottom half of the plant warm as this could really help

Ok so from what I've read....the fan leaves will be susceptible to damage from the frost....but the buds will actually be triggered to initiate a defense response and increase production of resin which protects the plant against the elements! Cool shit. However....if the plants can warm up during the day and not get frozen in the stems....then they should live and be ok to mature still. I have no choice in the matter since my greedy christmas tree loving ass wanted fucking bean stalks this year....I'll have to just wait and see....fuck me growing is stressful outside sometimes lol. If it ain't the mildew it's the fucking igloo making weather lol
Got any big ass sheets? Lol.. not much to do other than cover them as best you can.. you can buy frost guard-type products at your local Canadian Tire, Rona, Co Op, Home Hardware and Home Building Center locations too. 😆 Seriously tho, you can.
I just use a towel/blanket/sheet depending on what I'm covering.
All that said tho, frost is a mother fucker and there isn't a ton you can really do... we got down to -6 here last week for a couple nights and murdered everything.. a Creeping Death (great song btw). My ganja plants (and snapdragons) somehow survived tho! I have 2 males out there - Species 8472 and Hindu Kush. So I suppose cold-hardy cultivars also help. But yeah... good luck my mang.

Oh, I didn't see the 6 degrees thing.. as long as it stays above zero, you should be okay. The plants won't grow very much as low temps greatly reduce the ability of the plant to uptake certain nutes, and is generally just stressful for the plant, especially if it goes back up to like +20s. That's a pretty large temp swing.
Not to mention the overall intensity of the sun is getting less by the day, which is the opposite of what we usually go for during flower.

@templegrower ya man I'm gonna just have to ride it out man. Early harvest if anything but that would be shit lol. These are indica dominant and very purple so hopefully it puts on a nice color show but fuck me.....ride it out and see what happens. I'm also testing a peroxide solution to combat the powdery mildew.....TBA lol

@monkeydo oh I knew.....I mean i got the powdery mildew trick down....and manageable. This is just this years lesson in the craft of growing cannabis lol....however....it IS stressful a small amount lol
Yeah you are good if its above zero, if its been really wet then drops might have some issues but you should be good!
I remember last year I had two survive a few nights of solid frost on everything. Its damp frosty weather that can cause issues i do believe
