Hi peeps, I have a KarmaRado from karma genetics. “Cutting from previous plant which had the same problem”

She’s in canna terra pro+ soil. Canna feed range, not full strength.
Under Mars hydro 300w blurple. Passive air flow but has little fan in there.

she seems to grow out of it buy flower as you can see from the tops.
any advice would be helpful, thanks guys 💚

hi @littleg

looks like the cutting was possibly taken after 12/12 flip so the plants hormones confused and so kinda resets whilst adjusting back to veg OR that strain / individual plant is very finicky when being propagated, some just are a bit more sensitive than others to the process.
they will usually grow out of it. I usually start another from seed if I want to continue growing that strain and look for a better keeper.
Hope it helps

Hi @chillbert

Thanks for the quick response. Cutting was taken nearly 4 weeks ago and mum went into flower week ago. She done the same thing. Wondered if the strain is sensitive to a curtain nutrient or feed? My humidity could always be higher!

@littleg root stress is another possibility .. you could have a look .. discoloured roots will indicate an issue

What kind of soil are you using btw? It looks a bit on the dry side perhaps?

@chillbert

7.5 plastic pot with clay pebbles. I was using a Dutch pro mix and just changed to canna terra soil. This has a lot more fiber than the Dutch, and no perlite, from what I can gather they use.

The plant looks very stressed ( purple stems) I agree with @chillbert about the roots, seen it before and potting up the plant, fixed the problem.

You need a light soil that drains fast, lots of things you can add (10-20%) to the soil like sharp sand, perlite etc

Hi @jacks_farm

im not surprised she’s stressed, not long in new pot and I have topped her off a few days ago. Deffo not root bound, long way to go. Given veggies a feed now. I’m sure she’ll be ok.

I had a similar looking issue in a potting soil/peat blend.  Turned out to be a PH issue within the medium, it was "holding" a low PH.  Wasn't till I tested runoff (which I never usually do with soil/peat) that I discovered the source of the issue.

Since I've given them straight tap water (6.9-7.1 ish PH) and up potted with fresh "soil".  Checked the runoff and back to the races.

Hope this was helpful but if it is a continuing issue it might be from the cutting/parent genetics (a fussy plant)

Goodluck and 🌱💚

thanks @grower-urban, first time using the canna soil. I will test the run off on the next feed. I do believe it’s a fussy strain. Grown along side other strains n this the only 1 that struggles. Lovely heavy smoke though 😋

Looks a little overfed tbh...very dark green & waxy looking...Pro plus is already fertilised albeit not as much as the Pro but should be good for at least 4 weeks without adding much Nitrogen...I use the Pro as it suits my lack of time better and is not as finicky...also regulates Ph well so no real need to alter unless tap water is way off neutral

The combined yellowing edges & leaf shrinkage is also a sign of too much food

Thanks @zn

i always ph my feed to 6.6. But I can see it is probably over fed. I’ve had the same issue in the past n most probably down to me getting used to not feeding full amounts on the youngens. I am still going to test the run off to make sure. All the other strains doing ok. Not that I’ve got green fingers yet! Thumbs Up

Just for reference, here is pic of plant I took the cutting. Again the same problems on the leaves. Hasn’t long been potted up and obviously has had a heavy training due to its height.
