This is my first grow. They tend to perk up for a little while when I water them. I definitely overwatered with my second feeding when I transplanted about 5 or 6 days ago. I let them dry out before watering them again, and they haven’t seemed to fully recover since. Watering with aerated tap water ph down with distilled white vinegar.

Lower leaves will never recover so dont worry about them, new growth looks ok so continue the wet/dry routine for a bit, they should perk up a bit and vinegar is not a great Ph fixer, its more of a temporary thing...look for something Phosphoric acid based as it will last a lot longer...or for DIY some heavily diluted battery acid πŸ˜‰

Thank you. Will the first true leaves always do this, or is there something that I should do or be more careful of. Also I have this ph down too, just was scared to use it cuz I had some people on Reddit say it’s not good if you’re using living soil.

Acid is acid at the end of the day...vinegar is acetic, citric etc. phosphoric is just lower on the Ph scale, Sulphuric and Hydrochloric lower still

I use Sohum and Canna Terra and NEVER Ph my water, my tap water is just around neutral on the scale so I'm quite lucky in that respect

What is the Ph of your tap water ?Β

@bearsquatch23 You shouldnt have to Ph then as the soil should self regulate...You're only .2 away from mine and soil is similar in construction to Sohum

@zn

I have heard that a lot when it comes to growing in living soil. My thought is, what I’ve gathered from others, that in living soil the plant grows best within the range of 6.2 to 6.8, and the soil can buffer to the correct ph, but only for an expendable amount of time. In my mind, me using ph down to correct the ph on the front end buys me time on the back end to have some leeway. There might be times throughout a grow where I am away from my plants for a week or so at a time, and I don’t want to burden the person I’m leaving to tend to my garden to have to worry about the conditions of my plants. They can just water with straight up water that has been sitting out for at least 24 hrs.

Depends on the size of your pots/containers, length of flower period...Personally I would save the Ph for when/if you have issues...once you have the watering regime solved anyway...Ecothrive Biosys tea is a good addition
