Need some sage advice, my friends...  This year I've got a small garden... Out of 6 plants outdoor in pots in the exact same soil .. the exact same water schedule, one has a problem that I've never seen in 40+ years of growing... Perhaps I've just been lucky all these decades... The strain is Original Afgani #1 from True North Seed Bank in Canada.. It started out stunted but has recovered somewhat..

The soil is Miracle Grow with perhaps 5% real dirt... To date I've put no nutrients in the soil or water but I'm thinking it needs "something."  The other 5 plants (all other strains) are healthy and booming.

..

Can anyone tell me what deficiency this plant has?  The leaves seem to be a little darker than usual. and they kind of cup underneath.. Meaning I could take off some of the leaves... flip them over and they'd probably hold water. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope...

Hi Pirate, welcome to Percy’s mate. Looks like you got one strain that’s not particularly happy. Miracle grow soil can be pretty hot stuff and my experience with their products is they like to push a lot of nitrogen for fast growth. Your pic looks like she might have hit a hot spot and she has to much nitrogen, that dark green claw tip for example. Give your plant a good flush with ph adjusted water to remove excess feed and keep an eye on her. Once the excess is out of the soil she should settle down again. I suspect her stunted growth in the beginning could also have been due to the hot nutrient levels.

@monkeydo.. Thanks.. I feel welcome.. great site here... I like your theory.. I had also wondered if the roots hit a clump of dodgy soil, but your nitrogen idea is as good as any.. Will try the flush and see what happens. Hoping I can bring her back to life. Gracias, mon frer..

The leaves look fat, and sort of rolling in under neath them selves, classic sign of over watering. I would say say that is the most likely cause of the problem.

@macky Thanks, but that's not possible.. if anything I under-water my plants..  Agreed.. it does kinda look like that but I've already ruled that out.. All the other plants around it are perfect...

Well doesn't that look awfully familiar...

Hot Blueberry leaf
Hot Blueberry

This was last fall in a Blueberry I had. Wacky pH was the ultimate cause from what I could figure... I flushed the living shit out of her and she seemed to get better/perk up, but she also had the hooked leaf tips, indicating excess N. This was also likely partly to blame as that particular batch of supersoil I made was quite loaded with N. So yeah, I think monkey's suggestion to flush is a good spot to start. Reset the medium and start nice and fresh.

@templegrower.. Very interesting... OK.. So as to make sure we're all on the same page..  what's your definition of "flushing?" Best way to do that..?
