Hi everyone this is my first post, not my first grow, but a first for this style of grow. I'm up to week 8, she's been on full 12/12 since birth. Here are her parameters:
Grow medium (soil, coco, hydro): A mix of Hydro in a 15g fish tank with aquatic soil, clay pebbles, and a reservoir on one side.
Strain: Girl Scout Cookies
PH of your nutrient solution ( Feed): 5.8
PH of the run off, or Reservoir: Runs on a swing in the water column, 5.8 in the AM, will increase to about 6.5 by the next morning. Early stages was a much larger swing. 5.5-7.4. Neither swing seem to bother her.
EC/ PPM of Nutrient Solution before Feeding: 1.67EC @ 5.8ph
EC/ PPM of the run off, or Reservoir: 1.44EC @ 6.0ph (pretty normal for her)
Nutrients Brand, and how many ML per litre of which foods: GH Floranova Bloom, 3ML/L (aggressive schedule) added one L to water column (was her last feed)
Grow room temps lights on/ lights off ( On/ Off): Tank space 68F and 68-70%, room tank is in is 67-68F and 65%
Grow room humidity lights on/ lights off (On/ Off): Unknown I don’t go into the room at night. The room itself doesn’t vary from above temps
Res temps if hydro: 67-68F
Lighting type and wattage (hps, led, cfl): MH ts600 100w LED
Extraction (Size of Extractor, and where you draw and exhaust air from): N/A Fish tank is in an open room
What I am curious about is the color or lack of that is popping up on her. I've never seen this before and could use some help. I've added a few extra pics to give you and idea of how this tank runs, she's been doing so well up until this funky grey showed up. Also the damaged leaves are from getting caught in the LST clips at a young age and she pulled them out on her own. I just left them and they healed right up. Thanks for looking, any help is greatly appreciated.
@mcdougal Looks a little magnesium deficient mate by the look of things. But could be something else too.... strange choice of grow medium.... are you using an airstone?
@macky yep I got a small air stone on the reservoir side. Think a small pinch of epson salts may help? I have GH cal mag, but the mag content seems prettty low to be honest. Here’s a shot of the reservoir side. The moss is to help keep the roots that shot out into the reservoir covered from the light. And the balls are moss balls to help with taking up the unused nitrogen. It’s a bit gross, she gets gravel vacuumed tomorrow.
@mcdougal, hello and welcome to Percy's glad you made it, so you got some funky stuff happening, weird color for sure. IMO, the quickest way to fix things is to flush her with clean fresh PH'd water, and then reset her fresh nutz at EC- 1.20. If your using the GH flora trio, I remove the grow and just use the Micro and Bloom, plus Cal/mag.
Now that just takes care of the underneath, I can't rule out some fungus, it's strange looking and I certainly haven't seen everything or close to it. But I don't know fungus stuff, so I'd clean her up and reset her and see what happens. If it cool then start to increase the nutz, you may have just stressed her out with too much nutz. Reset.

Thats blue/pink hue. Cookies should go blue in cold right? I think she looks healthy.
@juglans I honestly have no clue, I’ve grown a couple GSCs and this is a first. But this is also a new set up so we are flying by the seat of our pants right now. 😂 I’m really digging the fish tank set up tho, but I also have planted aquariums as well. I figured why not mix my two hobbies lol
@mcdougal xD nice. Were those same cookies? From same seller. Berner raps that cookies turn blue yo haha 🙈 and that light color is quite blue also.
Theres little something there in lower leaves, but i wouldnt be so worried about it, its still so little. Because when i look pics about peeps salt buds, they are usually good looking colas, but nearly always little something burning in leaves.. ✌🏽
It does look pretty strange and it's on the top of the plant which means it's immobile, if it's a nutrient issue. But as you said the temps are low at below 70f, so that another variable, never had temps that low myself so can't comment. Phosphorus or a lack of it will cause purpling but I don't believe it's a defish, the rest of the plant looks ok, plus it wouldn't/shouldn't show up on top, I'd reset and raise the temps in a perfect world. @woodi2 purple is also autumn. Like option to going yellow. When chlorophyll breaks down. But little early for that in this case. But for me that color looks like a trait from blue family.
@juglans, well that sounds good to me, I'm glad we got that settled. 🤣 !! Plus it's getting to the point in flower where there's not much you can do anyway except pull your pants down and slid on the ice, till harvest. I'm glad you have a good eye! 👍
@woodi2 I think you called it with her being cold! I adjusted nutrients and she didn't care either way. Tried fiddling with the temps and humidity, but it's too out of my control at this point. She still seems happy, just chilly.
@mcdougal, man she's a looker for sure. With her leaves standing out like that, over the entire plant, it shows she's happy and in the zone. She got good leaf color and the slight fading at the bottom is perfect. Just maintain what you've got going and you should be fine. Don't add anything. Mine will drop their EC after about halfway or more through flower, the EC goes up and the PH goes down so I keep lowering the EC till harvest, but the PH and EC will tell you what she wants. She looking tasty!!
You’ll have sone trippy colours come harvest time if it’s going purple/blue from the cold
Just giving everyone an update on this one. She started week 10 today! Since her little cold snap, she has slowed down significantly. Growth is still there, just not as quick as she used to be. She got another clean up today, I decided to try and cover the reservoir as best as I could. Hoping it will hold in some heat and it's helping block the light from blasting the water column.
