Hi. I've been trying to keep some little flys at bay by keeping the top of the soil dry, so I've not been watering them a great deal but I'm having yellowing of leaves? Been looking through some posts and I'm a bit confused. Any ideas? Thanks ya'll
Idsay she needs some water mate. Its hard to let the top of the medium dry out without effecting the plant when its so young. Try watering it, but only around the base of the stem, dont wet the whole medium. Thatll give her water but hopefully not soak the medium too much

@macky thanks you mate. I have been putting the pot in a bucket of water to alow the water to absorb into the soil. Possibly not been doing it enough. Appreciate your help thanks
Add 1" of sand (sharp sand) on top of the soil and the fly's will die out or the numbers will drop down (they need wet soil to lay the eggs)
also the little fly's don't like airflow so have a fan aimed at the seedling, it will dry the top soil/sand out fast and get the seedling to grow thick and strong (just a light breeze)
looking at the seedling, the tap roots could be 4" long by now (they do grow quick)
you could also hang some sticky fly traps.
@jacks_farm I've heard great results with the sand method to keep flies in check. Definitively something to keep in mind

If you are concerned about the fungus gnats this will definitely solve your issue. It contains a biological material called bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, a natural control that kills the young larvae but is not dangerous to anything else at all. This is considered a natural organic solution and I can tell you it’s 100% effective. I drop one dunk in a bucket and let it sit overnight then feed/water as usual. It won’t dissolve completely so just keep moving it forward into the next res. For me, one last the whole run or almost the entire run.
