Hey guys.

I have a hydroponic diary ( https://percysgrowroom.com/forum/hydroponic-diaries/bss-1st-grow-cheese-hydro-150w-hps/paged/3/#post-25238 ) and lately I'm facing a problem that I don't know what it is.

I think that it might be some kind of bug or something but I'm not sure. The problem is that with that problem I'm having other couple of problems.

I switched the light cycles to 12/12 16 days ago, so was supposed to be at the beginning of week 3 of flowering, and normally at that time was supposed to start being formed some pistiles(flowers) but it's not.

Other problem is that I have a lot of leaves falling and appearing dry as you can see on the photos.

Two weeks ago I foliar sprayed the plant with some water(0,5L) with neem oil(2,5ml) and a few drops of dishwasher liquid(Fairy) and last week I foliar sprayed the plant with water and epsom salts(0,5L water+2gr. epsom salts).

Here is some photos so you can evaluate the situation and help me with these problems. Thank you very much for all the help.

Looks like some kind of leaf miner damage, have you seen any bugs at all? Checked under the leaves?

I’ve got one poor performing auto in the sun outdoors now and I’m constantly dealing with various types of worm damage like leaf miners and moth larvae. Evidently cannabis is just as desirable to the bugs as it is to us. I use BT to help control the problem but because the bud is starting on my plant, I won’t be doing this much longer. I prefer not to spray buds if at all possible and on my outside specimen might need to break that rule if it keeps on living. From the pictures I’m not positive this is worms, it could be some leaf sucking insect like aphids or mites but it sure look like insect damage. Get a magnifying glass or loupe and look at the underside of the damaged leaves. There is a clue under there to tell you what you need to treat for. I’d say you are looking for some tiny bug doing big damage.

Sorry mate im here, so you saw lgiht white flying bugs?

Could be white fly, or thrips. Best thing to do to start with is let the top of the medium dry out a bit, this will make it harder for any eggs in the soil if they are there, to survive.

You need some sticky traps up, so you can catch one and identify it. Then we can choose the right course of action Smile

Thank you @monkeydo and @macky, but do you think all these problems are because of the bugs?

The bug that i saw flying was dark and small.

Is it normal to still don't have any pistiles formed?

The falling and dry leaves are because of what?

Yesterday I foliar sprayed the plant with neem oil(1L of warm water + 4ml of neem oil + few drops of dishwasher liquid(Fairy)).

  1. The problems can bug related or a combination of things. One thing that makes diagnosis difficult for me is that the life information on the grow is absent here. I’d absolutely recommend posting all the problems and questions on your grow in a single diary thread. That allows all of us some history and an area to look back on to see some trends. It’s just a better way to present the data and get help.
  2. If you flipped the schedule to 12\12 16 days ago I would expect to see pistils by now. A couple things that might happen are enough light leak to not allow blooming to start, this could for whatever reason be an auto and it hasn’t decided it’s time yet, and lastly the stress on the plant might be interfering with bloom right now. Hard to pin down exactly but focus on plant health and she will go.
  3. When leaves are damaged enough from insects it isn’t uncommon for the plant to start dropping infested leaves. It can be a defense of the plant to try to get some of the problems dealt with but it won’t cure the issue. I know how absolutely frustrating this can be but we can only see what you show us. Take a step back and look at the entire grow from the beginning and see if you notice any patterns or abnormalities along the way. At least half of my grow issues are usually identified by something I either did or didn’t do earlier in the grow. Some of the bugs we are asking about are nearly impossible to see without assistance. Spider mites are one such critter. They are small as dust and a magnifying glass is in order for inspection. Tiny insects are no joke and they can totally destroy a grow. One gardener that taught me lots about general gardening suggested putting a clean white sheet of paper under the plant and shaking it vigorously. If any small bugs fall on the paper they will look like dust that is moving.

as you sprayed yesterday the infestation might be on the run. If this is an insect problem you should spray again in 5-7 days to kill any eggs that might hatch. I’d go ahead and do that just to be certain. Just a light misting is all you need

@monkeydo Thanks man. I will try to do that with the white sheet of paper.

I have a diary that i update every single day with the evolution. https://percysgrowroom.com/forum/hydroponic-diaries/bss-1st-grow-cheese-hydro-150w-hps/paged/3/#post-25238

These bug problems I think is something new. I didn't noticed these before. Really got worst this week.

I went to check the window and was a small light beam coming in from the side but I fixed it now.

Should I foliar spray the plant with neem oil when the lights are off or is it ok to do it with the lights on?

@bs_monteiro just to be safe do it just at lights off if you can. With all the troubles you’ve been seeing let’s play it safe lol. I really sympathize with you on the problems you are seeing. It does get better with more experience so don’t lose hope. This learning curve will get far less steep with time.

I’ll go back and read your grow thread. It’s really easier for growers to help if we have all the info so I’d recommend you post the problems there. So many grows going on around here it’s impossible for me to remember them all.
