Hello all,

In week 3 of flower (now in week 5) these brown/grey wilting tips began appearing. Some plants have lost nearly all of their leaves to this wilt. Very concerned about general effects on plant health, and spreading to flowers.

Any help on diagnosis, prognosis, and or treatment options would be truly appreciated.

Media: Coco + soil (~1:1)

Fertilization: Coco A&B in veg; fish, kelp, and calmag in flower.

water pH: Starting pH ~ 5.5, adjusting up to ~ 6 or 6.2 with CaCO3 (note - only began adjusting pH about two or three weeks ago upon noticing the wilt).

Thanks heaps!

@dr-jitter-bug to me it looks like you have symptoms of multiple difficiencies/excesses which points to something is causing lockout. 🤔

If you havnt, flush it hard then flush it again then give very light nutrients after a day or so.  That should at least stop the spread.

Good luck and God speed!

@shonuff Thanks heaps! I've flushed everyone with 1/2 carbon filtered 1/2 distilled water and am letting the pots dry back down a little, and will flush again when they do. There are some dry amendments in the soil (alfala, rock phosphate, gypsum, and molasses) so I may just try to coast on water only for the next few weeks?

@dr-jitter-bug If you have coco in their add calmag to the water.  And some recharge or another microbial product to help break things down.  Other than that I think you are right.  Just keep a keen eye on em.

@shonuff Thanks! I have a lot of oystershell and gypsum in the media, and was watering with 2mL / L epsom and 2mL / L powdered gypsum or 0.5 - 1 mL / L CaCO3, so I think I might have a cal excess.

I am in flush 2 now. Once they dry back down a little, I am thinking of using something like 1mL/L molasses, 1mL/L seaweed when I return to light plant and microbe feeding. Thoughts on that feed rate?

@dr-jitter-bug If you are past week 4 of flower you can probably skip the seaweed.  But molasses and microbes will help.  Other than that I would just give some flowering nutes to start.  Then slowly pick up other nutes, maybe 1/8th recommended dose.

Seaweeds are for the growth hormones in them, since you are in flower and not focused on vegetative growth they aren't super necessary and can cause some strangeness later in flower if you have too much.

Hopefully it helps!  I'm generally a coco or dwc only grower.  I know about soil a little but not firsthand experience, so hopefully I am giving decent advice. 😆

Update: The burned leaves are all senescing now, but the burn doesn't seem to be spreading to other leaves or the flowers. I have started maintenance watering with 0.5mL/L CannaCoco A+B and 1mL/L epsom salt on a few that have dried back down. I'll add a little molasses next time if they seem to handle the latter ok. We'll see what happens....
