Morning all, this is a follow up question from a post I did the other day.

im growing 2 northern lights and 2 super lemon haze (auto).

All planted around 12/01.
Everything was going well until I started seeing pistils. Then I started seeing rust spots and yellow marks on leaves. After some advice Iv given them some pk last night.

im just confused at this point because I can see the tips going a lighter colour at the tops mostly. Which I thought is a sign of nutrient burn.

Going forward should I be adding some cal mag and pk when I feed. And then giving just water in between.

The only thing Iv given the plants since 12-01 are as followed.

03/02: canna veg (50ml per 10lt). Which I now know was to much for 1st feed.

15/02: 1ml per LT cal mag

12ml to 5LT bloom feed.

Spread over the 3 big girls.

17/02: pk 1ml per LT.

I hope this kinda makes scene.

canna pro plus soil ph 6.2 when watering.

marshydro tsw2000 at 21” and set to about 55%.

temp between 70-75 humidity 70ish.

any advice about how to best go forward would be very much appreciated

Yes add CalMag at 1ml per litre every other feed, plants under high intensity leds love it and yeah, tips is a sign of burn and is more than likely down to the nutes you are feeding/have fed and is maybe taking the Ph of the soil down too...how big are your pots ?

Pro plus is already fertilized soil so doesnt need much nutes at all, and next to nothing in veg. Plants look a nice dark green...back off on the nutes for a while or use 1/4 of what you're using now

Less is more and the plants will let you know if they like it or not 😉

@zn have been using them so I don’t over water, although I definitely did on the smallest one. Honestly mate it’s the hardest part right now. Second grow and it took me about a month last time to get into a rhythm

so I was giving them about 3-4lt with runoff and the northern lights seem to be light after a few days.

but I think I was having to much run off.

so the last few waterings Iv been given them 2lt with no run off and the plants don’t seem to be dropping after.

And the one that took about 5 days to dry out Iv given a little less.

night temps were at 18ish compared with 23ish. But Iv set the timer on the heating to come on at lights out to try and heat the room up a little.

@newtothis 18°-23° is why they are taking forever to dry out...you really want closer to 22-26 if you can. I have hte same issues in my veg tent but as soon as I move them to the flowering tent where everything is stable, they sort themselves out real quick

@zn sound mate. Everything that you are saying makes a lot of sense.  For sure I knew I had over watered but didn’t realise the affect. And it ties into what advice I got the other day.

Thanks for taking the time out to help mate. I really appreciate it. I’ll put your advice in to practice from today.

Feeling a lot better now 😁

  • @newtothis with them being autos mate I’d lay of the nutes for a while and possibly bring my ph up slightly 0.1/0.2. They should start to stretch now as they come into flower, so just keep an eye on em. Like ZN says less is more also if there is any reddening of the stems defo Time for a bit of calmag 👊👍

It's a bit to early for PK after only a month I think, BUT you say Canna Pro Plus *SOIL*.... Are you sure it is not Coco you are growing in?

@jsh1973 this is the soil mate.
I posted some pics the other day regarding some rust spots and leaf issues and the general consensus was a deficiency and some pk would help

Ah ok, just wanted to rule out Coco because of the way you worded it 🙂

Have you looked at feeding schedules on the Canna website?

Have you looked at feeding schedules on the Canna website?

I'm of the opinion that most manufacturer feeding schedules are a bit OTT...designed to make you run out quicker and have to buy more 😉

Just read your original post and I reckon you are watering too much mate...I use 18ltr plastic pots and only put 2ltrs every 2 days...you put 3 1/3 litre into 12l pots...this is what is keeping your RH high too and I'm guessing affecting the PH

Canna likes a wet to almost dry cycle in soil...

That is SO true I think too, I only use them at 50% to begin with and work up from there

I agree ... be very careful when you start adding the pk and start at 1/4 recommended strength.. observe 1-2 days...increase as needed gradually ..
plants overall are look in on good shape though so small issue atm

good luck
