Hey, so my question is, I have a RDWC and 8 day old seedlings. No visible roots yet out of net pot so plants shouldn't be effecting EC, PH yet. I'm doing a nutrient increase so with my set-up I mix up a separate 25 gal tub of nutz for a swap, actually a partial swap to bring things up slowly. After mixing new nutz and aerating with pump and stones for 24 hrs. Ph is stabilized at 5.9 for 24 hrs. I swap out 6 gals, old for new, and the PH hits 6.4-6.5 or so. Existing PH in the system was 6.1. My question is WTF. It's like trying to nail jelly-o to the wall! I put what appears to be two stable PH solutions together and all hell break loose. And the kid are caught in the middle, when I have to start getting thing hammer Down. Why can't there be just one smooth transition, Anywhere? Chaos in my rez. oh bother
Any and all positive thought are appreciated, and comments on the above question. thanks
I have to show you guys my success (fingers crossed) with opening up a can of whoop-ass on the root rot the has cost me 7 days of lost growth with my auto's.
I gotta show somebody and you guys are the only ones who understand my triumph!
I luckily caught it early but it still messed them up bad. They were suffocating, and getting locked out on everything. At 28 days their EC is only 0.70 now and they're getting ready a take off, again. But regardless she still went into flower at almost their worst point. amazing, the show will go on.
@woodi2 roots look good man Its remarkable how quickly they can recover Good you caught them
Tring to figure out the dark purple hue on the tips of the new growth that seems to go away with maturity. These are the ones from above that had root rot and have under gone 4-5 days of Hydroguard flushing. They are on bear nutz, silica, cal/mag, 3 part, and hydroguard. I believe the problem started with adding humic acid in two different supplement when I was also increasing nitrogen. In other words too much at one time. I added Diamond Nectar and Floralicous plus, both are humic acid and I now think that when used they help with the up take of nitrogen, maybe too much and that put things into a state of toxicity. I had just increased EC from .90 to 1.0 and then the two humic's with that. I tried the diamond one time on my last grow and basically the same thing happened, swore I wouldn't use it again but I have a jug of this stuff. Live and learn. But the floralicous does just fine. Maybe just not the two together????? Any of you mad chemist care to shed some light on this for me, and remember I'm a hydro guy, so use small words or maybe a crayon drawing.
Hey @woodi2, I’m a newbie soil grower, I didn’t understand half you said! Hope all goes well!
@littleg Thanks LG, This little number is what I like to call " Stumbling around in the dark."
@woodi2 not a dwc grower but I run coco so it’s hydro and I’ve used Diamond Nectar for years with great success but I’m only using 15ml in 19 liters so low dose. Red/purple coloration usually points to potassium problems but not always. I can’t answer your question exactly but I can offer the Mulder’s Chart below that shows the relationship that nutes have on each other. Sometimes an increase of one restricts the uptake of another. This chart was originally shared with me by Green Beard and has helped me greatly by explaining the problem with over feeding. Hope it helps brother.

@monkeydo Yes thank you. You jogged my memos and I have this chart. I'm thinking that with the low dose nutz it will slowly leach out. Or I try a flush possible with florakleen to remove any nutz build up, but I just got the roots and bennies straighten out and am scared to death to mess with it! I will revisit the chart and find some direction. thank for the help. I'm thinkin a little product may help me understand this chart better.
