If I’m in over my head we’ll there’s no turning back now!
So after finding the HOHG podcast and listening in for a while last year I found myself building an RDWC setup in my garage in the middle of winter!! I had no plans really. No plans of the layout, what to grow or nothing. I’m surprised I made it as far as I did, running tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, herbs and whatever else I could squeeze in my little 4x2 tent. I had even built an NFT system that “plugged” into my RDWC. Pretty nifty if you ask me.
fast forward to this past October. I had been in my new place for about 4 months and again had no plans on growing anything.
Well instead of yappin here’s what that turned into:
So, I came up on a 5x5 from a helpful neighbor who asked if I had use for it with no poles included. I snatched it right up and ran to the Hardware store where I bought some wood 1x2” pieces and made a nice sturdy frame. Mind you, My RDWC was running in my 4x2 with these
Blueberry and White Widow (Seedsman) & An Orange Tendersweet Watermelon.
They Had been vegging for 3 months! Because again I had no plan for anything.
Thankfully I got that 5x5 because when I flipped them they turned into Monsters! As expected after so long. I did a light defoliation and topped them each once.
This was aa couple weeks after topping and the first week or so of flowering
Fast forward to now, February 2022 and I’m finally rounding the first corner. I’m 6 weeks into flower so I’m starting the countdown. This entire experience has been like that; doing things right before time runs out. I feel. I’ve learned a ton!! After all this is my first grow! I’ve tackled this with the “less is more” approach and have made due with what I already have available. My budget is super tight, maybe even non-existent. But as you can see things have been working themselves out!
@lebanesecheeze Great job on your first grow! I also started in dwc with lots of on hand DIY stuff. Makes it so much more gratifying when you harvest a few months worth of smoke for pennies per gram. 👏

Here’s the basics of what I have going on:
Flowering Tent 5x5x7
(Blueberry) (White Widow)
- 1000 Watt HPS Light SunSystem
- 6 inch Vivosun Carbon Filtered In-line Fan
- Commercial grade air pump
- 800 GPH in-line water pump *can be controlled thru smart plug app
- Humidifier controlled by Controller
- Inkbird Temp & Humidity controller
- Inline Fan is controlled by smart plug scheduling. On always with HPS. Then scheduled to cut on intermittently based on my analysis of humidity readings at night
- Window Air Conditioner controlled by temperature controller.
- Canna Aqua Flores, Canna PK 13/14, GH pH Down
- Bluetooth Thermometer & Hygrometer
- Trellis netting *sorta Kinda
Vegetating Tent 4x2x5
(Cream & Cheese CBD 1:1)(Blueberry)
- 400 Watt Metal Halide Light w/gull wing reflector *smart plug timer
- Humidifier *Manually set
- 2 Bubble Buckets
- Platformed and raised 4 inches
- CANNA AQUA VEGA, GH pH Down
Only thing I would really suggest new growers invest in are good lights and good genetics. Everything else you can do on the cheap with some enginuity. I like your style brotha! Haha

@shonuff I agree 100%. I wanted to get some LEDs but I just don’t have the funds. I grabbed some seeds from seedsman a while back. Eventually I’ll be able to upgrade and maybe even run some comparisons. Any recommendations on either would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I'm a big HLG fan for lights. Did my research and thats what i got once i could afford it. Its amazing how much more money you can invest in your grow when you no longer have to purchase your medicine. 
On seeds. That's more of a personal thing. My best recommendation is to learn about breeders on podcast or through your own research and buy from the ones that speak to you. In the meantime, you can get some real life views of how things grow, look and smoke by searching through diaries here! Maybe see something that you have to have. Lol
