Do you have to decarb rosin chips before making edibles?

From my understanding The heat from pressing is not enough to change thca into thc, or cbda into cbd.   So I still decarb rosin before adding it into an edible.

I agree with Phil, death anyway as the heat from the press alone may not decarb the weed properly 

definitely decarb everything bro - it usually takes a bit less time with concentrates or kief in my opinion, but, the temp should be around 115C (240F) for a decarb

Thank you everyone for your input.  Everything said makes perfect sense.  Most concentrates you buy come with a total THC content %, some break it down to THC% (usually pretty low) and THCa% that is usually much higher (THCa converts to THC as it is vaped/smoked but a/most/all edible recipe wouldn't convert it).

Had over 160 grams of rosin chips I wanted to put to use so followed your instructions and decarbed it.  Got it in the freezer with 76% alcohol (highest food grade I could easily get my hands on).  Plan to shake it vigorously once or twice a day for a week then take it out and let most the alchohol evaporate off.  Use that tincture/RSO with already infused coconut oil for gummies.

Did the same process before with 30 grams of outdoor and the edibles actually worked ? ? ?.

Ps the chips seem to absorb sooo much alcohol compared to flower, I may need my press (turned off obviously) to press the alcohol out of the chips.  Good idea?

I wouldn't squeeze it too much, as then you'll force chlorophyll out of the buds and into the alcohol, when what you want to do is have the trps and trich dissolve into the alcohol, and the evaporate it .

With rosin chips though, thats already had the chrohyl taken out? So they should be squeezed like fick if they aint dissolved lol. Just don't squeeze wet green shit too much

Ya never pressed the OD flower with the press, just with my hands to get most of the alchohol out of the buds and coffee filters. 

With the chips tho I put in 5-8oz of alcohol and had to transfer it to another jar (1st one was too small, too packed in to shake properly).  Only 1oz poured out so figured the rest is stuck in the chips (that were a pain in the ass to get out of the 1st jar).

The chips have also held up way better than the buds.  After a day or 2 in the freezer the buds were powder and looked like I used way too much alcohol.  The chips have kept their form (mostly).  Maybe over the next few days they will break down?

The freezing thing is more to make the trichomes brittle so the break off the plant matter easier. So it may not be necessary to freeze the rosin chips. 

Maybe they will dissolve better when the alcohol is heated?

Ya was thinking of doing a little heat treatment to er as well, might help get the liquid moving.  After getting your input it's definitely a go. 

What do you think is better; leaving it on my radiator for a few days?  Or double boiler method?

I would warm up the alcohol, with everything in it. when the chips have melted, filter the shit out, and continue with the rest of the process?

It should need to get too warm to melt the chips i dont think. So don't boil it. just warm it up, melt it, fiter it. then evaporate the rest of the alcohol. Think that's what I would do lol
