Has anyone come across this issue with BlueLab PH pens ? I’ve recalibrated it about half a dozen times, but now when I try to calibrate it it comes up with this error. Thinking I might of been better of buying four cheap ph pens tbh 😆

@gelert I’ve seen this error on my Apera meter. I’m my case the pen would calibrate the 7.0 range but not the lower 4.0 point. The calibration solutions were old and out of range. New calibration solutions fixed the problem for me. The Apera also has a procedure to return the responsiveness back to the probe by soaking the probe in a potassium chloride solution. When we did this it also helped. Your meter is a different brand but maybe some of this will help.

Thanks @monkeydo, yeah that was exactly the same for me would calibrate at 7.0 but not 4.0, maybe I’ll change out my calibrating solution then, worth a try at least. Think I’ll get a cheap ph pen as well tho just as a back up, thanks mate 👍

Might be as simple as you trying to start the callibation from the wrong end, i have a diferent meter, but it is from blue lab, and if i try to start callibration at the wrong end of the scale, it gives me an eror, i cant remember if it was 4 or 7 it wants first, i think it is 7, but if t gives an eror, try to start in the other end of the scale:)

The symptom I saw was after starting the calibration process and completing the 7.0 calibration successfully, I would clean the probe in water and put it the 4.0 calibration solution and the calibration mode would flash between 4 and 10, wouldn’t lock into the 4.0 calibration. If you would press the calibration button you got an error. Apparently the solution was far enough out of range to not lock the range properly. No telling how long I was using dodgy measurements but nothing in the grow died.

As others have mentioned i am pretty sure blue lab wants 7 first then 4 from memory, if you do it the other way around it freaks out. I had a similar issue with the EC probe not wanting to calibrate and it was the fluid being out of tolerance that caused that.

I feel like a, like a slice of butter... melting on top of a big-ol' pile of flapjacks... yeah.

@gelert on the back of my blue lab ph pen it tells me the calibration order it requires, also like @Momkeydo said there’s a lot to be said for cleaning the probe and then leaving it to soak in KCi storage solution for 24 hours before calibrating it again.

🤔 might do that you know cheers @fweetch as I had been calibrating starting with the 7.0 first as usual so might be that. Worth a try at least.
