This morning when I opened my clothes dryer it was full of water, ok not full but there with water sit in the tub. WTF The lent trap was wet. Last time I checked there's no water plumbed to an electric dryer. Now I only do laundry about once a week so it's been a few day since I've used it.

I have been play with the 8" extraction fan in the grow room and have had it at 50%-75% at times. When it's at this point, I can feel it pulling air into the kitchen from the exhaust hood above the stove top. Hot air will pour in from the outside. It use to pull in the bathroom exhaust fans but I replaced both of them and duct them out the roof with back-draft prevention. I can even feel the hot air being pulled down from the attic through the plumbing's vent stack.

Now I've known that it was drawing through the drier for awhile but not to this extent. I guess with the outside temps at 100f/38c and humidity to match, that hot air being sucked into a cold metal clothes drier, (that doesn't have back-draft prevention) in the basement and it sits at about 78f/25.5c, is where the condensation came from.

The dryers inside light comes on and that's it. Oh well. Simple physics, what goes out must come in. I normally don't use a lot of extraction, but it's summer time so I have to do something. But now I have to do something else, like put up a clothes line. At least it's summer!!

Anybody else, anyone? Am I the only poor sap that gets his clothes dryer struck by lighting? 🤣

Always something new to learn at Cannabis College. 🧐

I understand the physics but DAMN!! So you are getting backflow past the butterfly shutters? Wow, never thought about this. You might be better off installing a dedicated vent in so you can better control the flow. I just exhaust back into my space and run a dehumidifer. It's my workshop so me being there most of the day gives plenty of CO2.

@monkeydo, yeah I don't think the back draft shutter is working or even there anymore. I've been working and making improvements to the house and sealing it up with proper insulation. But the 8" Infinity really sucks I guess. This also draws through my shop but I haven't seen any rust on the iron machine tops. I'll let the clothes dryer sit with a fan on it for a few days and see if I can resurrect it. idk

I'll have to get some type of designated inlet. Somehow.

@gonzo333, UPDATE, the clothes dryer sat for 36hrs with a fan on it. Then it was semi-disassembled and blow-out with compressed air. Now it is once again spinning away and it even has heat. Hallelujah!! YAY!

My sister called me this morning asking why the glass door of her clothes dryer had condensation on it???

Anytime you blow air out it has to come back in. Now I have a laundry room to clean after I had 175 psi of air blowing lent around, and I mean all around! Dryers clean! :d

@woodi2 Glad you do not need to replace the drier!   But yeah, man -- that must be some serious air movement to back-draft all those vents.  Sounds like you need a dedicated fresh-air makeup vent. Keep us posted, and good luck getting all that lint cleaned up!

@im_sparky, yeah lol it's got some draft even with the extraction set on low. I have an in-take in the room (it really an exhaust) but forgot it has the back draft flapper on the outside vent hood. I keep trying to pull air through it one night, anyway LOL!!

So yeah this is what happens when your grow gets bigger and lights and heat increase. Did I mention it's fing summer here. I just keep trying to forecast the next apocalyptic event, key word: trying. lol So is bigger better? A lot of things change as the size changes. More shit to think about. 🧐
