Morning All

so I’ve been inactive for a few weeks largely due to my recent 1st harvest and getting absolutely fecked in the evenings.

I had a few issues as expected but with the info and support on here I was able to yeald a decent amount of fairly potent stuff

So I’m going with a new tent (most likely a 3’ x 2’ x 6’ from my local hydro it’s good to support local guys). The other thing I need is a good heater, I grow in an enclosed space not in the house, it’s bloody nippy now and the the first ceramic fan heater looks like it won’t last a second grow.

So finally my question is what do you guys use? Fan, tube or something else?

pics and purchase place much appreciated

TL;DR

What would you use to heat a medium size tent that is located externally?

TIA

@woolieback cheers buddy. Had a look at GBs and looks great but damn €85 might be a bit rich for me right now but appreciated.
I’m gonna buy some insulation for sure.

Hey mate I use a lil convector heater. It works perfectly I paid £10 from Facebook and it works a treat. I did have a tube heater in there but it wasn’t enough once temps got real low.

Ive got 4 1Kw convection heaters...they're pretty good too as Turbotitch mentions. I use mine to dry my plaster though, lol...I did have them in my tents for a while but now the room has heating Smile

I'm using an oil filled radiator with built in thermostat. Works pretty good but does take up a lot of room. That Solea heater GB uses does look good and would be far more convenient if doing a scrog.

Time to grow old disgracefully.

My tent is in a concrete garage so heating as been a challenge , got a tube heater plus 500w oil filled radiator which are fine until I turn on my extractor fan and then they can't replace the heat removed fast enough so I've just bought a tower ceramic fan heater with built in thermostat . I've only just ordered it so can't say whether it's solved my problem yet will let you know

The solution to this is to not extract as much air.  Most of us are over doing it on the air exchange rates in our tent.  I would suggest looking into a cycle timer and cycling the fans on and off.  I am currently doing this with a 2x2 right now trying to set it up for an aero cloner:

The other option would be to get a fan controller so you can reduce the fan's flow enough to retain heat/moisture.  In the above example I have a 4" extraction fan on top of a 2x2 tent with just passive intake.  There is a cool mist humidifier and a little wall fan heater in the tent.  The heater is just one of these little 1000W jobbies:

The timer is running the fan ON for one minute then OFF for four minutes.

Water is life.

In my 4x4 tents I use oil radiator heaters (De'Longhi Oil Filled Radiator Space Heaters) and they are really good.  They power on and off correctly without losing settings (all settings are analog), so in certain circumstances I can turn them off when the lights are on and on when the lights are off, etc.  I connect my heaters and my lights to Sonoff smart plugs and create scenes so that they react together.  I do this with the water pump in my reservoir as well, so the pump doesn't run if the grow lights are off.

In the 2x2 I referenced above I am still looking for a good small heater option.  The heater I use above shuts off after 12 continuous hours of use, so I have to turn it off and on every day and reset the temperature, which always defaults to 20C on startup.  I have a new heater coming on Thursday for that tent to see if I can find a more robust option.  I'll probably look into getting an Infinity 4" fan for it as well so I can just slow the fan down instead of cycling it on and off with a timer.

Water is life.

@bogleg I've got fan controller but even at its lowest setting it's to much for the two small heaters, I'm going to put it on a timer as you have , need a different timer though as the one's I've got smallest time segment is 15 mins

Use some 6ft of 8" ducting down to the intake fan size ducting and slide a 4ft tube heater in there, this will warn the air up before it gets in the room

The other idea is use a light that puts out a lot of heat like a 315w cmh, on 24h for the veg room and pump the hot air in the flower room
