Hey guys. Quick question. I have my plants in flower about 1 week deep. I've defoliated a bunch off them (tiny branches and branches inside the canopy and inside leaves that are clustered mainly) but haven't been able to finish it due to life and a rain storm that happened.
So I'm wondering if I should give them some time to recover before I finish the upper canopy of little twigs and a few lower branches that just won't be good or should I finish the job now?

Is the stretch over Cody?

@monkeydo I'm not entirely sure....but it seems like they are.

To prevent these monsters from stretching even further, wait till the stretch is over and blooms begin to stack, real flowers and not just a few pistils. At that point the plants have switched off growth and switched on the bloom cycle. At that point you can safely defoliate whatever you need and it won’t cause another growth spurt. This is now my standard practice and I have to say the plants respond very well to it.

@monkeydo roger that man. I'll wait the 2 weeks

Hey growmies. So as mentioned above....and this is I think crucial for outdoor growers and really all growers..definitely wait for the stretch to be finished as mentioned above before doing any really heavy defoliating as it causes more stretch. I have here a great example of the same strains same soil same sun. My plants on the outer edges have stretched more than the center plant. I havent taken as much off of the center plant as I have the outer plants....and the bud structures are more dense than the outer plants already. Not a huge issue I'm stressing about because hey....I'm only on my 2nd run this year and I've learned a TON this year so far....but great example I think.
Here are the pics of an outer plant with more defoliating
Here is the center plant with less taken off
Not a big difference but I can see the difference and thought maybe it would be cool for you guys to see the difference in how defoliating can affect stretch.

Dont take anything from the top mate onyl the bottom where the light cant reach But try and leave on as many leaves as possible so they can catch the light
@macky ya I was reading in my incredible book lol....that taking leaves off actually can decrease yields. It removes a food source that the plants can take from to produce buds easier than drawing from the roots alone. The top canopy is a little twiggy in some places that just aren't going to produce and they will be removed for cookies but ya everything in the center of the plant area that is shaded below will likely be removed. The bud sites look good tho man.....hopefully gonna be some big thick nugs! Come on COLAS!
