So just wondered how commonly the percys community come across fox-tailing in the main colas late in flower and what you put it down to...?

I refer to fox-tailing as when the top of the cola decides to continue growing out into a tip, like a second burst of late flowering on top of the cola.

As far as I know so far it can be caused by light stress, heat stress, genetic traits, light leaks ie starting to re-veg, and not sure about nutrient ratios and how they may input to the process or not.

any thoughts / experiences appreciated 👍

@woolieback yeah I’ve had it with autos too

Sometimes I can’t seem to put it down to anything other than genetics..

sometimes there’s no patterns to suggest proximity to light or heat etc so I’m wondering if nutrition ratios are an issue, but still strain related as again no obvious pattern between strains !

Too much light in late flower ?
Conditions not ‘autumnal’ enough?

Be a lot easier to work out if I weren’t running several cultivars some with diverse habits lol

@woolieback cheers bro

genetics makes sense as ‘landrace’ or heritage cultivars (sativas at least) typically all have long pointed buds. So I’m guessing anything with some sativa in its heritage (most modern strains today) have the potential as it’s in their genetic blueprint, or should that be ‘greenprint’? 😉

@Chillbert

I found Fox-tail is cause by the strain/plant, heat in mid flower or too much light in mid flower
