Hey Team, how is everyone? Here is one of the all time questions about growing.

How do you feel about trimming fan leaves during flowering?

A. Only for ventilation

B. Only if blocking ample budsites from light

C. Yes they gotta go

D. Never

You don’t have to pick one, these are just the common schools of thought I’ve encountered.

I love it Ned!! Great thread mate!

I'm gonna have to go with D though I think. Most of the big trims should be done, just as flowers start to form, and then the plant should be ready to go into flower with no further trimming.

Those leaves are important, the more light the plants catches, the more food it can make. Keep the leaves, tuck them out the way if you have to, but onyl remove them as a last resort Smile

But of course, this is just my opinion lol

A and B and anything that is losing color or just looks bad,  I might remove too many sometimes but I dont think ive hurt a plant with it yet.

Sativa to change the things I can, Indica to accept the things I can’t.

Yep, I do A & B as well. Basically anything I determine is doing more bad than good... I leave on as much as I can though, until the last week or so where I'll start pulling off the really yellow/easily removable leaves (not cutting, just the ones that will easily come off when tugged on a bit). But the more leaves you have, the more chlorophyll, and the more chlorophyll, the more food produced, and potentially more bud. I think. ?

I avoid defoliation unless I have a mad indica with a gazillion leaves making it more humid in my space than a lawyers handshake.
