Curious if anyone is using home automation (like Apple HomeKit, Alexa, etc) to semi automate their grows.
My house is setup with Apple Homekit, so that’s the path I headed down.
Using the “Eve” Power strips for lights etc. you can setup timers in the Eve app, and the power strip will report power usage and draw. Plus other sensors (temp/humidity) can also trigger the power strip. And each outlet can be controlled individually.
Using “Aqara” temp and humidity sensors, as well as their water leak detectors (I’m running RDWC).
The missing piece of the puzzle for me right now is water temp. I’ve been looking at swimming pool and aquarium suppliers for water temp sensor that are HomeKit compatible.

That's really cool. I am automated but not to that degree. I went with the Pulse Pro monitor but it isn't hooked up to my house. Ever seen the show Eureka? They had a smart house.
Technology rocks! I hope they come up with a water sensor for you.

@sevans1965, water temp isn't a problem but you may have to use an Old Fashion Inkbird temp controller. The cold side works the chiller and the heat side works a mat heater either under or wrapped around your rez. Works fine for me but then I'm not very techy. Good luck man.
I’ve not gotten into the newer smart WiFi switches yet because my older tech is still working fine so here’s my question on the subject. Can you adjust these smart switches into increments of one second so as to accurately control a pump for auto watering. If it’s only good to minutes and not seconds it wouldn’t work for my application and I’m thinking adjusting the time via an app would be easier than reprogramming a digital timer.

@woodi2, I’m not sure if water temp will be an issue yet, but wanted to monitor it (to see if it’s an issue). I have my rez outside of the tent, and pump in-line (not submerged). I also have my LED driver outside of the tent.
I figure some of my set-up will have to be frankensteined while I wait for miscellaneous HomeKit compatibility.
What do you consider as an acceptable water temp and range ?

Hey @sevans1965, I've always ran mine cold a 68 degrees. Pythium is supposed to stay at away at that temp and below. 74 degrees holds the most O2, but then your in dangerous territory. I like the advantages of the warmer temps but usually get in trouble there. If I stick to the basics it 68 degree and usually all is well.
An in-line pump will heat your water considerably. It's a slow process that just keeps building. Not too hot but Pythium likes it.
But if you run sterile, you can run higher temps.
Hope this helps. 👍
@sevans1965 coco is pretty consistent so my digital timer works well. Was just considering the newer technology.
